Rain LGBT

Latest Comic:
That Other Kid
That Other Kid

Written by Jocelyn Samara DiDomenick (aka LittleLynn84)

"Rain" is a comedy/drama that follows the daily life of teenage transsexual (who is coincidentally named Rain) attempting to go through her senior year being only identified as a woman. I'd like for it to be very funny and entertaining, but the story will also touch on many rather heavy subjects including acceptance from family and piers, blind hatred and many of the other difficulties faced by members of the LGBT community.

This comic contains:
- Occasionally strong language
- Sexual themes and situations (but no nudity)
- Gay, lesbian, bi and transgendered (and straight) characters
- Lousy or non-existent backgrounds

"Latest Page" thing

Many people have been asking me about the Latest Page image still showing a filler piece from weeks ago, despite my having posted quite a bit since then. I'm finally getting this down to talk to you guys about it, because frankly, I don't know what to do.

You see, all of the chapters on SmackJeeves are set to be in order by number. In other words, Chapter 1 come before Chapter 2 which comes before Chapter 3 and so on (easy enough, right?). But there's a lot of unchaptered material (Rain Delays, supplemental material, miscellaneous art for other stories and more), which I keep altogether. None of it is crucial for the actual story, of course, but it's just fun diversions, so why not?

The thing is, if I keep it at the end, it's unclear when new pages go up. You guys are forced to rummage through the now very lengthy archives to find the newest, and from the sounds of things, you're not happy about it (can't say I blame you). Truthfully, I didn't learn just how big of an inconvenience this was until just recently.

See, I used to keep all the extra stuff at the beginning instead. This way, the site would always advertise the latest actual important page. However recently, I had a potential reader (who honestly, probably gave up and left) complain that upon starting, was met with "forty strips of filler that assume familiarity with the characters" instead of the beginning of the story. If a new reader wanted to start checking out Rain they too would have to rummage through archives to find page one of all things.

I tried to fix that so as not put off potential new readers, by putting it at the end, instead of the beginning. But now the returning readers are put off. It's especially frustrating because at the Comic Fury location, I can keep all the filler at the end and the site still knows what the most recently posted page was. I'm a little fed up to be honest, because I want to make both new readers feel welcome and returning readers comfortable. I'm so close to just removing all filler from this site altogether (this way I'm not scaring off new readers or annoying returning ones). But I feel like this also punishes you guys by not allowing you the same content found at the other locations, and I don't want to do that. I guess I could link you to one of the other sites, but I assume you're here because you want to read it here!

So, I'm bringing this up to you folks. What do you think I should do? Is there any kind of solution where all readers (new or returning) can both be happy? Should I remove the filler stuff from SmackJeeves and just link to one of the other sites when such a thing goes up? I'm just not sure what to do, so any ideas anyone has would be most welcome.

Rain - Volume 1 OUT

Rain - Volume 1 officially out now!

Yes, it will be available at Amazon as well. It's to my understanding that they only update their database once a month, so it could take a few weeks for it to hit the online bookshelves there. However, for exactly the same price, you can just by at Lulu too.

Yes, to my understanding, it should ship to Canada, Europe, and Australia. Here's a complete list if you were concerned.

Yes, there are plans for an eBook, but converting comics into said format is a giant mess. Don't expect it anytime soon.

Regardless of whether you plan on buying it right now (or at all), it'd mean the world to me if you could follow the link anyway and rate it. I imagine the higher the rating, the more it gets looked at. The more it gets looked at, the more it sells. The more it sells, the happier I become. And the happier I become, the more I will be able to do for you guys.

So enjoy, my friends. And thank you to everyone reading it, and subscribing and commenting and just giving me all the support I need to keep at this. Maybe it sounds trite, but I couldn't have done this without you!

Here's that link again in case you didn't feel like scrolling up a little bit.
