So, I participated Inktober this year. I didn't share them here because I just didn't want to clutter up the comic site. Posting an occasional random one-off doodle between pages is one thing. But I don't know if people - especially months/years beyond the current hiatus - are going to want to see potentially up to 31 images of off-topic filler in a row when they're just looking for the next page of the comic. XD

That said, I did participate. I just slightly did not meet last year's numbers. In 2018, I managed to do twenty prompts; this year, I did nineteen. I'm still happy with everything, though. I think I got some fun art out of it. The point was not to stress out over it and have fun, and maybe showcase a few stories you might be hearing more about in the future along the way. And in that regard, no matter how many prompts were completed, I've done what I set out to do. I'm happy with this. ^_^

If you're just finding out about this now or wanted to see them all together, you can check out this and last year's Inktobers here:

So... now what?

Well, I know a lot of you are probably getting antsy, wondering when Rain is coming back. The answer was before and still is 2019. I'm not mentally ready to jump back in just yet, but I'm getting there. If I were to narrow it down, I'm leaning towards sometime between the end of November or the start of December. In the meantime, there are just other things on my mind that I need to attend to. Not the least of which being a certain other month-long artistic community event...

That being, NaNoWriMo (or National Novel Writing Month). I'll say flat out that I do not expect to write a novel or even get anywhere near 50,000 words this month (as the usual goal implies). My personal goal is three chapters of a story I want to work on in prose. If I can do three chapters, I'll consider this a huge success. I won't say which story it is for the time being, but you could probably narrow it down. ;)

I will be working on Rain at the same time, though. While I write for NaNo, I'll draw for Rain. I want to test something, and this will be a valuable, little experiment for me. Regardless of how NaNo goes, though, Rain will be ready to return shortly afterward. And from there, I'll resume regular comic posting, three days a week, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (including Christmas, which happens to fall on a post day this year). I hope you'll all look forward to seeing everything. I'm certainly looking forward to doing it all. ^_^

Have a lovely day, everyone! <3

Wow, Inktober AND NaNoWriMo??
I'm always super impressed with people who manage to do both! You're amazing!

Best of luck meeting your goal! :)

Nice drawings! Thanks for posting the links!

And wow... I'd never dare do either Inktober nor NaNoWriMo because I don't have the time... Maybe if it were International Novel Writing Year? I haven't had a break this whole month, I really need one. But anyway, I commend you for going for them! Good luck! And I think setting reallistic goals like you have is a good idea.

You are so ambitious! I hope to squeeze in a NaNo novel while also working full time and learning to manage another worker in my shop.

I think there's a way to register as a student or young person and record your own goal if it's less than 50K words to help you track your progress.

You can also be a "NaNo Rebel" and include, say, a comic page per day as your goal. That would help with your buffer!

Anyway, good luck!

Take as long as you need. It’s important not to burn yourself out. If you have to take some more time off or update less frequently that’s fine, we’ll understand. We’ll still get an amazing comic when it’s ready, and you won’t have burnt yourself to hell.

@LittleLynn84: Honestly I don't care how long it takes, this story is always worth it. So if you have to take more time to be in the right head space to make it, take your time to do so!

Yay! This month of November has many updates from many of my favorite things. I hope you have fun with NaNoWriMo, Jocelyn!

I discovered Rain a couple of days ago by chance while browsing a N/B group, and I've been reading it since then and I cannot wait for it to continue! I'm so happy I discovered this comic! <3
But seriously, don't burn out and take care of yourself, that's the most important thing!
And thank you for creating this amazing comic <3
