I'm sure no one will believe me, but the flashback here is slightly adapted from an old scripted page that I somehow never ended up drawing out. I'm not sure what my reasoning for not drawing it back then was, but I'll be sure to fix that when it comes time to work on Volume 5. The inclusion of a flashback here to fill in that lost information may be a little sloppy, but I hope it helps at least a little. Sorry, again. ^^;
As for the current scene, well... :/
Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.
Rain - Volume 4 FINALLY came out this month! If you're interested, you can find that right here!
Or if you're not caught up, you can find all the books so far here.
This can't lead to anything good...
:hides in the bomb shelter and waits: this cannot end well
the other day i commented that debbies brother was gonna be involved in this flashback and nobody replied to my comment :) jokes on yall
Debbie said "live and let live." That means she's not a transphobe. If she wasn't so jealous of Rain for "stealing" her best friend, I doubt she'd have a problem at all. But considering she hates Rain, things could go VERY badly. And then there's Todd looking threatening on the chapter cover...besides asking out Ana, he hasn't shown up. He's going to somehow find out, isn't he? And while Debbie might actually be cool with Rain being trans, so long as she knows she's not the dad of Emily's kid, Todd will absolutely abuse her for it.
@Dawn: Quite a walk between "don't harass random boys in dresses" and "not a transphobe." Especially given her reaction when she heard the person was talking to Emily.
@Raen: Indeed. I've known several people who have a ""live and let live"" attitude, up until its someone they know, or they're using a restroom.
well straight up fuck this bitch
Debbie had better not spread it tho
I just came to say that I'm pissed at you for making my favorite comic on this site so depressing that I can't enjoy it anymore. I'm already having a bad day and I am furious about the fact that now that bitch will spread a rumor just because she's jealous and then rain will ether kill herself or at least be bullied and kicked out of school. People who put their loyal readers through hell like this are scum. Now I have no reason to ever visit this site again. I hope you're happy.
@Guest: ...don't you think you're being a teeny bit premature? We don't even know she'll go public with this yet...
@Guest: One. You're over reacting. Jocelyn isn't a mindreader, and even if she was, she certainly cannot tiptoe around all of her readers' bad days.
Two. This is life. Shit like this happens all the time. Unfortunately, it can't all be sunshine and rainbows and unicorn farts (to say nothing of the fact that you can't write a good story without tension). Besides, where were you when the plot had Gavin, or Aiken, or even as recently as Kellen, be the antagonist?
@Guest: Sorry you're having a bad day, but have you really not noticed before that Jocelyn very specifically does *not* pull punches with Rain? She never has. Actually tackling issues people face in real life is part of what makes this comic so good. She's real. She doesn't sugar coat things.
And maybe...just maybe...it's more important for an artist to be true to their work than to pander to the desires of *some* of the masses?
Quick Rain - people fall in bathrooms and hit their heads and die every day!
Oh shoot here we go down a roller coaster ride of doom.
Are you sure that flashback was never posted? It looks familiar to me..
Maybe it was in the print edition somewhere? *gets up to check*
The first two panels, yes. Those exactly exist as part of this page - http://rainlgbt.smackjeeves.com/comics/2261223/interruption/
Everything after with Debbie talking to her brothers is new content though. She never made even the slightest appearance in that chapter (Chapter 28, which is not yet in print).
I'm sure Rain will be alright though. She's strong af after all.
Don't worry, I think the context of the flashback was clear enough.
No matter what happens, Rain will be all the stronger for it. She always is.
I want to punch a certain transphobic somebody
I'm surprised that Debbie didn't use the fact that Rain always changes for gym in private as evidence.
It'd be perfect if she thought Rain was trans, but transitioning to be a guy and not the other way around
@Lyla: As nice as it would be if she thought that, I don't think that's the case here. A trans boy couldn't get a girl pregnant.
