Poor, little Ryan.
Let it be said, that I’ve read MANY webcomics in my time. And I have at least a dozen times seen a point in which the author attempts to put some serious moments into their otherwise “joke of the day” comic for the purpose of directing the story. There are always a few understanding people who want to see where the author will take this direction (like me). But I’ve noticed some people actually get bent out of shape over it too “because it’s not what they’re reading the comic for”.
So, let me get this out of the way right now: Rain IS a comedy, but it’s also a drama. Just as in life, sometimes there won’t always be a punchline. (And then, sometimes the joke is in the middle of the page rather than the bottom. I like to spice it up, you see.)
Oh, and I'm not sure if this is obvious or not, so I'd like to add that the woman is "Ryan's" mother. The other kids are older siblings.

my sister said when she grew up she wanted to be a daddy so i'm like how are you gonna do that your a girl. and she was like well i'll grow up to be a boy then. shes a total grlygirl now but for like an entire year she told teachers she was gonna be a daddy
ahaha this almost exact situation happened to me except I'm FTM not MTF. I've always acted more like a boy and stuff but my parents think I'm just a hormonal girl :/
Like I told them I wanted to be a boy when I was 9 and they laughed and said I was just having a hard time with puberty and I'd get over it
Six years later I'm still a boy
Now they just yell at me everytime I bring it up
Damn,. Thank god I'm finally over that experience, brother told me I could be like a real woman though, "(aghast) hunny boys can't be moms"
@Charlotte057: Sex Reassignment Surgery, or SRS for short. Rai-er, Ryan's is just ignorant of this.
Keep Reading, @Cgarlotte057
