Really proud of how this one came out. There’s a lot I want to say, but I’m just going to shut up this time and let you all have fun with Gavin’s revelation. ^_^
Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.
Oh wow. I really hate him. But I'm not surprised at all. So, say something surprising. Now...go!
"It seems a bit extreme to -hate- him... this seems like a natural response for a guy even if he's sort of open-minded. I know a lot of guys who would have a much, much worse reaction to all of this. o_o"
I agree. Alot of cis guys have trouble thinking about this aspect of trans girls so it is an understandable reaction.
I don't see how one can still loathe Gavin. Sure do it if you want but he's easily the most dynamic character in this thing. Might hate him now, but I imagine he'll change over the course of this.
Sure one could say that the reason I champion Gavin is because I relate most to him, but I also like dynamic characters because they are the most human.
Props to writer for not just making Gavin a hater just to have a hater. Thank you for giving reasoning behind it that isn't just "Rain ain't a boy no more so Gavin angry!" or "Rain stole my friend Ryan!"
Ironically, this makes Maria appear as more of a jerk because she's prejudging Gavin.
Wow, now I'm blabbering.
bottom line= thanks Jocelyn for making Gavin a human being and giving him a reason to feel uncomfortable around Rain that one can apply to real life.
A very nice way of exposing the problems that gender identity issues can create for those who know the conflicted person. Sometimes, the person who is being repressed is popular with others, but does not feel right to the owner, and when they develop their new personality, they encounter resistance because they are going to 'kill' somebodies friend.
