Introducing the Strongwell parents as you’ve never seen them before: smiling. And yet, it just puts a pit in one’s stomach to see Mr. and Mrs. Strongwell looking like that while saying the things they’re saying.

I want to point out (because I don’t think I addressed it clearly enough) that Maria IS hungover too. As Gavin said on the last page, she started after seeing her brother kiss her crush. So, yeah. She’s still probably pretty mad, just too unwell to DO anything about it. Regardless of the situation though, they are quite close as far as siblings go, and will make snarky comments at their parents’ expense if they can…

…and the parents don’t hear… ^_^

"Our son is finally cured of his disease!" doesn't flow right. Disease is too long. Why not "Our son is finally cured!" ? Preserves meaning, flows better i think...

Sorry if you're not looking for this kind of advice. I often work as an editor and at times i find myself nitpicking on stuff i read.

But then, cured of what exactly? There is a relationship between "gay" and "disease" (no, there isn't, but there is to some folks), and just saying it without the word "disease" means it doesn't really emphasize on the "gay" part. Yes, you can see what they mean on the previous panel, but the emphasis on making the link between "cured of his disease" and "not being gay anymore" makes it that much stronger.

And sometimes the author can't really change what the characters want to tell themselves...

@Another fan: I agree. Maybe the reason i think it flows wrong is actually because it -sounds- wrong in my head as a concept, which is actually the intended effect.

@Another fan: Unfortunately some people (particularly religious people) do actually see being gay as a disease or like a disease.

I know this is gonna sound weird here, but are the Strongwells hispanic or asian? I keep looking at them and thinking it's one of the two.

@Tabula:

The Strongwells are just supposed to be mutts of European descent, honestly. You know, part Spanish, part English, part Italian, etc.
