Confused, yet? O_o
This page could also be called “Mindblow” or “WTF!? Grrfmblrgarhmfzzlegrblmarghhh!”, you know, depending on how willing you are to accept Rudy’s revelation. I settled with “Transcendence” because it is basically relevant though (and I love me some wordplay).
Special mention goes to the black and white scenes. The first two are from actual scenes earlier in the comic. The first portrays Rudy’s first display of admiration for Rain (from page 21 - The Truth Is). The second is from a scene in which he and Rain discussed the Strongwell home life (on page 39 - Slight Overreaction), making Rudy actually the first character to open up to Rain about his past. The third black and white panel isn’t any specific scene, but a simple montage of the three most antagonistic characters in the story: Emily, Todd and Father Quenton (although, only Emily has been particularly notable thus far). BUT! The “bumped into you on the first day” remark refers to Rain and Rudy’s first meeting (page 16 - Crash).
There’s lots more allusion throughout the comic thus far too. I’ve had this confession planned since day one after all. Don’t believe me? Read it again, and focus on Rudy. ^_^
But regardless of nearly 200 pages of build up, Rain looks… iffy. How will things proceed from here, I wonder.
Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.
O.O, I dont think i would take that very well if this same thing happened to me.
On another note, been meaning to ask why you use the kinda grainy brush you do, it seems to make the comic blurrier to my eyes.
its mindblowing because....
There isn't another page to flip to.
So I wonder what else Rudy will say. Rudy is attracted to boys, and he acknowledges that he does know that she is physically a boy yet he sees her as a girl.
This is very complicated, me personally, I am not fine with someone being possibly attracted to me because of the fact that I am technically a male born biologically, but I do not want that person I would like to really consider that factor as a POSSIBLE reason why they may like me.
Actually, this makes a lot of sense to me. Then again, I read El Goonish Shive, so gender and sexuality don't really hit trigger points in my brain properly. :P
WHAT'S THE TRUTH, RUDY? /WHAT'S THE TRUTH?/
@RavenHeart98: YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW THE TRUTH! YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!
Personally, I think the whole "Well, she's technically physically male..." thing is him trying to rationalize his attraction to her, and he has a girlcrush on her even though he's gay.
I just hope she sees the benefit of this crush for Rudy. Any other guy he could have a crush on would be hated by his parents and be shunned be his school-mates. Yet with Rain, she would be loved with the thought that Rudy is straight and her cover would only be strengthened. This is the first crush he can be serious about.
it ain't real unless you say like like
Poor Rain. If I were her I'd avoid Rudy forever from now on.
Confused? Five years ago I might have been. I've been someone's "one exception." We'd still be together if only I'd had the courage.
i think that this comic is generally pretty good but Rain is a girl. She's not a boy. she may have been born with the anatomy of a male but she is not a boy. So im a little confused about why character are always going on about how "she's actually a guy". As for rudy, there are more that 1 sexualities. He could be bisexual or pansexual. Ky, there is also such thing as gender fluidity and you are not constricted to just one gender if that is how you feel. While i do find myself continuously flipping the page, but i also find myself frustrated by some of these things, and some of the character's ignorance. But i suppose they will just have to learn.
Oh, I know. That's the point, actually. No matter how well we may understand orientation or gender or sex, we were all ignorant at one point and we ALL had to learn before we could just know these things. And I want these characters to learn and grow themselves, so that readers who might not fully understand these things can learn with them. If I start them all off understanding everything right from the beginning, it becomes confusing and hard to follow for those who don't know these things. This means, especially during these very early chapters, the main characters make mistakes and say stupid things. But they will learn and understand someday. It's a process. :)
ahhh I see! I continued reading, and I see how much the characters have learned and I really like this comic a lot. I just want to apologize for if ever in the comment I came off as a little rude or something. ;)
Ok, has anyone considered the possibility that Rudy is demiromantic? Like, 'dudes look yummy but if you're awesome I'll date the hell outta you'?
