Love is a very complicated thing (understatement of the century!). I don’t believe there are any right or wrong answers. Gavin’s dad (his name is Trevor, by the way) is one man. Although gay, he did legitimately love the woman he married, but he couldn’t take the lie he was feeding himself (as subtly implied by the last panel). This DOES have the potential to draw parallels to some other couple we know. But does it actually guarantee anything?
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.
Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.

This has been a concern of mine from the very start about RuIn... The expected thing would be for Rudy to still love Rain and then they'd all live happily ever after, but this comic has taken some unexpected turns before, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I'm pretty sure Rain has already started transitioning, since she's out as a woman socially. Not medically yet, but still. I'm slightly worried about that statement "completely female", since that implies you can't be female unless you transition medically (and surgically?).
The way his dad expressed it was in an open ended way, indicating it could either be that Rain was already completely female, or alternately that Rain would be anatomically female. Either way, it wasn't intended to be a slight.
Physical transition is vastly different from presentation/emotional transitions. That is what the dads are concerned about.
(Er, what I got from it)
Ok, though as a trans woman I'll have you know my penis is perfectly anatomically female, on me.
you know i just realized i have a friend in a similar situation. He date this girl ( who really looks like a stereotipcal mascline lesbian) before he came out as trans. She stayed with him and they generally do look in love but i dont know how it will work in the long run. he wants to go all the way (operation and hormones) but what about her. lOVE IS COMPLICATED and saddly 99% if sex/attraction isnt there it just wont work
i think i really like gavins dad and am a lesbian . also what i think his dad meant was her physical transition
Frank, you are silly. Never change.
Also, Gavin's dad is an incredible person. He gives good level-headed advice. All I can say about the situation, honestly, is about characters I've created and how I try to go about displaying their psychological processes, since I've never personally known anyone of the sort pertaining to subject at hand. All I have is a ton of research and reading the stories from people who've gone through it themselves.
Wait a minute dose this mean that Gavin's Mom was a Post-Transexual?
@Dark Komet: MIND BLOWN
I had a feeling that Rudy saw Rain as male somewhat...
This... Won't get him to tell Rain NOT to transition, right? Right?!
I have a very bad feeling about this...
@O_O: He may think of her as male slightly but even if he did consider his own feelings over hers and ask that question. Rain would dump/punch/shout at him. Almost nobody can stop you being who you are.
@Dark Komet: I doubt she'd have been able to have Gavin were that the case O.o
@LittleLynn84: This comic is precisely why I am having trouble. I love my wife. I know she loves me. We have 3 lovely children together. But I'm a woman inside a man's body, and I want to change that. She's not a lesbian (despite some early experimentation in her 20's) and doesn't want to be married to a woman. For now it's working, but it's very difficult.
@Dark Komet: I think what he was referring to was loving Gavin's mother, but being unable to shake the very simple fact that he wasn't attracted to women.
I think this is a prime sort of example to something I think really matters. And that's sexual attraction.
You can probably love someone a variety of ways. People say there's all kinds of love or so I hear.
But sexual attraction seems to act one way. Either you see yourself having sexy times one day or you don't.
I theorize that while the emotional "Love" tends to come after all the physical stuff, there's no reason it couldn't come before. But I think for any relationship to be considered in the Romantic as opposed to the Platonic or Familial category, sex has to be there.
And while technically, a person could mechanically go through the motions, there's probably not gonna be any intimacy if you don't feel passionate in a sexual way.
That's just my opinion.
Serious topic is serious, but I just love Gavin's dad's boyfriend right now, just because of one word. "Kinky..."
