I know a lot of you are going to home in on panel 3. I very purposely worded that confusingly. Could Emily have realistically taken anything from that? She’s a smart girl and all, but she’s an emotional mess at the moment and clearly has a lot of things on her mind. Speaking of which, she’s been getting cut off a lot here. It seems like she has something important to say, but couldn’t get a word in. There’s been some interesting guesses already, but I wonder what the truth is.
I’ll be happy to hear thoughts on Chase as well. Is he justified in all this, or is he just a jerkwad?
Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.

I took it as Emily just finding Chase's comment confusing. I don't think she suspects anything of Rain.
And UUUGGGGH POOR EMILY these last few pages have been really sad D: It's almost as bad as what's going on in the main story...
HAHA! she tight!
I think Emily is going to ask Rain about her siblings and probably find out.
I think also Emily could be something besides pregnant...i dont know what yet though, besides really sorry and possibly confused?
>____> I do not like how Chase treated her. I think he's the one not over it; he's the one still fuming with anger and snapping back quickly. He could've handled things a lot better, mister "I thought you were more mature". What a meanie. HMPH ; ;
Oh my gods she's pregnant.
Emily DID break up with him publicly, didn't talk for him in two months and when she does BEGS him to come back?
Seriously, if it were you, you'd be pissed off too.
Despite being younger and female, Emily doesn't deserve more sympathy than Chase. It's her fault for going with a guy much older than herself. This usually happens when the girl is trying to impress her classmates and such. I know, I saw it happen and end badly.
But SHE ended it out of jealousy, really.
And while he may still not be completely over it, he wants to move on.
Seriously, you're there with your partner, when your ex calls and whines to be taken back. Who would be calm in that situation? Especially since it seemed like it was about to get X rated?
Just think about it...
Actually, if I may be THAT pain in the butt, the break up was not public (it wasn't even seen by readers, although we surely got a prelude to it). In short, it happened sometime between

Beyond that though, I agree entirely. Well said. ^_^
I think she could have taken that Rain had a gender-variant (but not necessarily trans) sibling, or at least relative, but it wouldn't occur to her that they were the same person I don't think
As for Chase, he doesn't know Emily's situation (admittedly because he hasn't given her a chance to tell him), so as far as he's concerned she's calling him 2 months after dumping him for either something trivial or something that he has no responsibility for (and he's not even clear which) and demanding that he dump his new girlfriend to take her back. So yeah, I'd say it's a pretty natural reaction, if a bit tragic
I think Chase is bitter about the break-up. He doesn't allow her to say anything and talks the entire time. He seems to be a very smug person, though, and his current girlfriend may find herself dumped before long as well. If he sees nothing wrong with getting underage kids drunk or Emily being mad about him getting them drunk, then he really doesn't have too much of a scale on what's morally wrong.
I know Emily's made some poor choices in the past, but she seems to be really trying here. She calls him calmly, and even tries to put forward her idea politely before Chase cuts her off and doesn't allow her to say much else. She really has changed since they broke up and become a better person. Chase, on the other hand, hasn't changed or matured in the slightest and is just as petty as before.
That's my opinion on the whole thing, at least.
I don't hold Chase's reaction against him, but I still feel bad for Emily.
@Thinking: I was pretty certain she broke up with him because he got underage teens drunk. Which is ILLEGAL. Also morally wrong. And he saw nothing wrong with it.
Also, I haven't heard Emily whining in this conversation. She's a little chipper, but mostly polite. She hasn't even COMPLAINED about his behavior, let alone whined to him. *refuses to make the Rarity reference*
It's well-stated, and I'm sorry if it seems like I'm nitpicking with it, but I can't agree with those things.
@Shiori-Tsumi: Good point about the booze
Ah, ah, ah... be careful with that phase. "Morally wrong" is very, VERY subjective.
First, it is illegal, but not morally wrong universally. To you, yes, but not to me, or any country with a 14 or lower drinking age. Or even many people or groups.
Secondly, this makes Emily look worse. Either she thought it wasn't that bad and decided to go back; was that lonely that she will contradict her morals just to be with someone; or she did that thing to teach him a lesson or show who's boss, wanting HIM to crawl back first, but seeing he wasn't, panicked.
I cannot sympathize with Emily. She made a bad decision and we are seeing the consequences of her actions. It is pretty stupid to date someone over twenty while you're in high school.
This SCREAMS "Look at me, I can get someone MATURE to go out with me." Bleah!
Either that or she has daddy issues. Maybe both.
While Chase did do something he shouldn't of done, Emily brought it on herself.
So I won't go "Poor Emily" I'll say instead "now move on with your life, he's doing you a favor."
Just because you are having problems Emily doesn't mean you have to be the person you are at school. Everyone has problems and if you needed a boyfriend like THAT that badly maybe you shouldn't have been such a female dog to everyone else.
are u updating today or tomorrow ?
I'm doing it riiiiiight now. Gimme like two minutes. ^_^
...Did I miss something earlier in the comic? Because I honestly don't recall Emily being that bad to the other kids in school. Maybe a little snooty, maybe a little elitist, but I think that's about it. Rain seems to like her.
Emily has a bit of a reputation because of that snooty, elitist attitude. She's one of the popular girls, so she's presumably well-liked to some extent, but she does have something of a negative reputation, all the same.
And Rain does like her (if is somewhat intimidated by her). I haven't touched on this since it happened, but the two became friends at the end of chapter 10. The catch is that the others don't like Emily quite as much. Most notably Maria.
@Thinking: Desparation often causes people to compromise on their ethics. Emily is pregnant, and she goes to a religious school so she's probably been taught that getting an abortion == going to hell or something. And she understandably doesn't want to have to raise the baby on her own, especially without a reliable income and probably with academic commitments, and with the stigma against and almost complete lack of societal support (financial support, free/subsidized childcare, information, etc) for both single and teenage parents, particularly mothers
Inb4 she is pregnant. o-o
