And once again, another one of those “who do you agree with” questions. Gavin or Maria?

Although, perhaps the bigger question is actually Chanel’s. XD

I think they should ask Ky what Ky thinks of all this.

I'm with Maria 100% here... but that might be in part because I'm a trans man myself, haha.

Maria all the way, there's never any excuse for blabbing about somebody else' gender identity without their explicit consent. Also, while Gavin's right about what might happen upon telling Drew about Ky(lie), he'd be wrong in forcing the situation.

Frankly, none of this is any of his business and he should keep his nose out of it.

Complicated

reply

I think, and this is going to get complex, one Drew needs to know that he was attracted to a girl, two, Kylie needs to be the one to decide if she is ok with Drew knowing, and three I think Maria is too self involved with her own "in the closet" history and is making an assumption that Drew is gay, well Gavin is keeping an open mind that Drew could be either straight, gay, bi, or anything else that falls into LBGT rainbow (though probably not transgender), so I guess that means I am siding with Gavin

Nosy

reply

I think that the entire group should stop being so nosy about Drew. Leave him alone, and let him do what he wants. It's no skin off of any of their bones about which way he rolls; they could, y'know, get the guts to just talk to him about it if they really wanted to know.

The whole reason they're arguing is because neither is wholly wrong. Yes, there is a possibility that Drew is gay, or more likely (in my opinion) bi, but he himself is making a judgement on half a picture. He has a certain right to the whole picture.

Gavin, however, does NOT have the right to give him the other half of that picture. Ky is the one with the rights to it.

Maria's point about giving Drew a chance to "hide behind the straight" does stand... but not entirely. At this point, Drew's ALREADY become more open to the idea he's "attracted to guys". Any other time in hte future he meets a guy who attracts him, this period will come back to him. As in "This isn't just a one-off though, is it? You HAVE thought about guys before..."

honestly, ky's assigned birth sex has nothing to do with their gender identity, nor is either one anyone's business but theirs. it is really rude and a huuuuuge violation of privacy to just out someone.

furthermore, it has nothing to do with the situation. i've been with guys who ID as completely and totally gay. i'm a trans* man. i'm a nonbinary trans* man, at that. they did not identify any differently knowing my birth assignment, physical situation, or gender identity. it really had nothing to do with it.

they need to just leave drew alone. his identity is none of their business, and honestly? he's probably not just saying he is for attention. i mean, he's risking a lot by being out. it's not fun to be out, it's not fun to be in the closet. it is not rainbows and lollipops. he likes ky as a guy. if ky doesn't ID completely as male, that doesn't play a part in drew's identity. it wouldn't even play a part if they were together -- drew would just have to alter his view of ky's gender and body and come to terms with the fact that doesn't really change who he is.

they don't even know ky's feelings on this.
what scares me is this is basic right to privacy being debated. you know because trans* folk barely have it.

I have to agree with Maria on this. Even if it is just a hoax, they can't risk it, and of course Ky can't be outed.

The idea that we would even debate this is offensive. Maria is in the right here, and I certainly thought a lot more of Gavin, this whole exchange hurt my opinion of him, a lot.
