Oof. I’m not sure which one I feel more badly for.

There’s a lot to digest here, but what are your thoughts on this whole matter? Could either girl benefit from coming out to the school about their relationship or would such a thing end in disaster? Do we think Chanel’s fears concerning Maria are plausible, or is she overreacting? Is Maria being reasonable about Chanel's concerns or not? And any thoughts on Brett, just to cover everything?

Also, I'm saving for SRS, and to be perfectly honest, I could use your help! If you can, great. If not, don’t worry about it. I totally understand (you don't need to feel bad or apologize if you can’t).

Her fears about Maria might not be unfounded... but I don't think Maria has a chance with rain at the moment seeing as rain seems to like the January girl...

I think that Chanel's feelings are justified. While her and Maria seem to have a stable relationship, it is true that Maria's never confirmed that her feelings for Rain died out. (She may just have felt that thre was no need to state the obvious though.)

However, I don't think her way of doing things will solve that. Maria's right, even if they stayed together she'd be leaving at the end of the school year and Chanel would have three full years with only Rudy as confirmed support. (Well, there must be SOME other open-minded students but you can't guarantee when or how she'd get close to them.) If they had a BAD break-up she could even lose Rudy. This thing with Rain aside, those two seem pretty close.

It also would have very little effect on any relationship between Maria and Rain. Rain already knows about their relationship, if she was going to be held back by that (in the event she DID decide to go for Maria) it wouldn't make a difference if it was public or not.

I suppose Chanel just wants an indirect sign that Maria has confidence in their relationship. But this is backing her into a corner and that's never a good thing.

Dammit don't make me feel bad for rooting for my ship Joss XD

On a more serious note, this is a sad page and I really do feel for Chanel (even though I ship RainXMaria like there's no tomorrow)

Short term benefits for long term costs basically sums up my attitude towards them going public. Yeah, in the short term public commitment is a way of ensuring a certain degree of integrity. But in the long term, years of bullying....

Aw, poor insecure Chanel :(

I'm with Chanel on this. Maria's already out, so it doesn't change her standing among the students. So if Chanel says she wants to come out, that's her call to make.

Of course, this is the classic 'do you love me enough to come out' dilemma that's plagued gay/les fiction since forever. I mean, it's somewhat realistic, or used to be at least, but it's overused I think.

Both Maria and Cahenl have to discuss their feelings. Just because Rain is avaiable it doesn't mean that Maria has to risk it all. Also, Chanel is right that they should make their relationship official, but be careful about it because catholic schools aren't holy places as parents think.
