In case it wasn’t clear, the idea is the Carmen is being referred to her by her birth name because it’s the name she used when signing up for the place. Surely, after this first visit for her, she might use her chosen name a bit more passionately. ^_^ And I urge everyone to follow Jessica’s advice. They’re words I live by personally, and I think it’s totally worth passing on.
This interaction with little Carmen allowed me to cover some important things I wanted to discuss, and possibly offered a bit of development for Rain herself. Sadly, we won’t very likely be seeing much more of her.
At least, not in this story… ;)
Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.
Also, I'm saving for SRS, and to be perfectly honest, I could use your help! If you can, great. If not, don’t worry about it. I totally understand (you don't need to feel bad or apologize if you can’t).
Ohmygog Carmen is such a cutie! I want to give her all the hugs in the world!
Well, I'm an idiot. Took me about an hour before I realized it, but I totally posted on the wrong day. I've been a little under the weather the past couple days (pretty much sleeping or Pokemoning the whole time), so I may have completely lost track of what day it is.
Whatever the case may be. The page has been up for an hour already. I'm not yanking it on you all at this point. I guess just consider this a freebie. ^^;
When I originally started going by Hannah with family at least, my brother couldn't resist being a smartass and said "Psh... if you get to choose what your name is, I want to be called Megatron." I was -slightly- offended... but I called him Megatron for like the next week, including in front of his friends, he got the point. :P
Anyway it's slightly disappointing we won't be seeing Carmen interact more in this comic, but she was adorable while she was here nonetheless.
Psst. Just wanted to point out that Carmen has a hole in her head in the last panel.
You know I had this problem once. I had a therapist in my school helping me with trauma and she was really helpful. But then I had to go back to my hometown and my sister found another therapist. She was okay but I really didn't like her because even when I told her about me being transgender she continued to use my birth name and wrong pronouns. She even had the guts to say oh but I work with a lot of trans-people. If that were true she would be a little more careful and sensitive about it with me. I eventually went back to school and am still working with my original therapist who I really love. Really I am her first trans patient and she doesn't mess up and even asks me if its okay to refer me to my old gender when talking about the past or if she is using the correct pronouns.
This may just be my obsession to have all things be even talking, but I noticed that there are 3 M2Fs now and no F2Ms yet. Are as far as we know. I imagine there's a point to that, but I thought I'd mention
@RFZ: Well to be honest if one where to look at a similar comic that had a F2M main Char we would probably be seeing the similar but reversed results ... just saying and am in no way trying to be demeaning here. Sorry if it comes across that way though.
@RFZ: what do you consider ky then. Sure shes not there yet but who knows what will happen.
@Hannah: You are amazing haha. I don't think I would have been able to keep that up for a week :P
@Drakanor Dream: Fair enough. That makes sense, it was just something I noticed and thought I'd mention it. And I didn't see your response as demeaning, so no worries.
And @barrage7667: I see Ky as genderqueer
Hmm, I think that if this clinic has such experienced therapists, they (and their secretary if that's who she is) would know not to use a first name or something gendered like miss/mister. They'd just call out for a Jimenez and leave the details for a more private place than the waiting room.
From the other comic! :D
