Classic adorable Rain. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve missed seeing her. Between the hiatus before the last chapter (followed by a chapter itself that barely featured her), I feel like it’s been ages.

I’m not really sure, but I imagine something like this normally might be considered highly unprofessional for someone in Vincent’s position. I don’t really have any excuse except that it’s for the story. Hope you’ll forgive me on that account. ^^;

The RainComicStore on Etsy is holding a charity promotion this week month courtesy of my lovely wife, Kelly! There's never been a better time to get yourself a pride scarf!

Or a hat! She's making pride hats too now! The listing only shows a picture of trans pride one currently, but if we can do a scarf of it, we can do a hat of it too!

@LittleLynn84: ...huh. Yeah, something like this would seriously freak me out. I'm used to having to keep my distance from doctors because I don't trust them not to gender-police, so I guess it's not necessarily so much of an issue with someone like Vincent who's demonstrated that he's not a gatekeeper. But then, I try not to let anyone in too far who has significant institutional power over me, if I can avoid it

It's not really clear, but did she get a prescription for HRT/a referral to a doc? Vincent said in the last comic that it is medically necessary, but it's not explicitly said

@Noodlez:

Rain didn't get anything yet. My therapist essentially said the same thing to me, and I still waited a couple months to get that referral. I know some people do walk out of their first session with it, but it's just not my experience. I'm kinda sticking with what I know here, so there will be at least a little bit of a wait for Rain too.

I'm willing to bet that she's going to have a date on Valentine's Day and be torn between it and that next appointment.

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! DON'T SPOIL THE OBVIOUS! ;_;

Also, therapists are technically allowed to be(come) friends with patients, they just have to be careful to keep the personal and professional aspects of their relationship separate. Or at least that's how it seems to work with a few of the trans* individuals I've met around here. It's not like the therapist(s) ask them to hang out in the session(s) itself, but when you work/are in a closely knit community like the trans* one, it's kind of difficult to avoid running into others from it. I know I can't seem to avoid running into somebody else from the community whenever I go to the city. lol :P

Yeah, it's not really a good idea for a therapist to become involved in their clients' lives. It just complicates everything. Of course, they're all humans, so it does happen. In that case the correct thing to do would be to refer that client to a colleague.

The exchange of gifts with a therapist is actually something you can lose your licence over in some states. Though, you don't really need a licence to be a therapist.

@Guy: If the gifts are of trivial or symbolic value, it can be okay. At least, in my province it is. I got one from my therapist. It was a rather cute drawing done by another patient. Apparently it's common practise in that office, and I think the artist knew it might be a gift to someone who needed it.

In my case...yeah, I kinda did. ^^; I keep it in my wallet. Sometimes I pull it out and look at it, and I know it's okay to be me.
