And there we go. She's finally come out to Emily but... what exactly does that response mean? Does that mean she's okay with it? Does that mean everything's going to be just fine? And how long has she been thinking that? What could have outed her?
Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.
The RainComicStore on Etsy is having a sale through July 4th. This includes all products from the scarves to the magnets to the wristbands. And speaking of wristbands, my wife has been expanding the roster of pride colors available. Polyamory and neutrois pride are now available!
But don't forget, when you're at the checkout screen, be sure to type SUMMER2014 in the box that says “Coupon Code” so the that sale will be applied! That's 30% off, so you certainly don't want to miss it!
Why did you have to leave Rain out in the cold! I feel so awful for you Rain!
That sucks. As much as it's good for the friendship, it also hurts to feel like you can't/don't pass in some intangible way.
First new page since I started reading this =^^=
I can't completely relate, since I have never really 'come out' as anything, but I kinda know the feeling.
First off, I would like to say, AMAZING comic.
Secondly, I would like to thank you for taking the time to explain Transgender issues to the general public. While I like to think of myself as open-minded, I unfortunately find Transgender people a little unsettling, while I won't say your comic has answered all my questions, or put all my worries to rest. I can say for certain that it has given me an encouraging head start to be as open-minded a person as Aunt Fara is.
In short, thank you for making the comic, and thank you for, making it just a little bit clearer to those who don't understand what it is that Transgender people face. Here's to hoping that the comic continues for a long time!
@FabledLocket: I recommend you check out transwhat.org -- it is very informative. :)
Thank you for sharing! It means a lot to me that my story could offer some insight and understanding for you. ^_^
I think Emily said that because she saw some signs. She has become friends with Rain and her friends and everyone has been kinda hands off on telling her, to be fair it is best for Rain to tell her. That has probably left some questions with Emily, like what happened between Rain and her siblings? Sadly there is probably more, but I don't remember them all. I also think Emily would have been able to have "a feeling" not because Rain was unable to pass or anything, but because of Emily's research into her own sexuality. This is just a guess but I think Emily could have come across a lot of transgender stuff looking into what her sexuality.
On more of a personal topic I just want to thank Jocelyn for making this comic. Honestly it has helped me figure out myself. Specifically Ky. So thank you again.
@LittleLynn84: I totally forgot to type this the first time, and I know I have long since missed the boat, but congratulations on being able to go full time!
This is clearly a crapshoot, but maybe Emily's feeling is that Rain is ftm rather than mtf?
I initially thought Emily's response was Rain's inner monologue so when I couldn't find Emily's response I thought we were meant to think it was an awkward silence but maybe we were gonna find out next strip that Rain had actually hung up by accident before outing herself :P then I actually read the "inner monologue" and was confused for a second lol
@FabledLocket & @Guest: I second transwhat.org :D
Oh boy, Rain looks absolutely terrified. I'm not sure she was actually ready to say anything.
I feel like the thing with Rudy is going to be the biggest "tell"
*popcorn* i cant wait to see how this plays out.
Good lord, I've had that happen to me. T.T Didn't end well unfortunately....I hope it's better for Rain than it was for me.
@Casey: I know the feeling all too well..
I was kinda expecting that. Emily's pretty perceptive, and knowledgeable, and she's been hanging out with Rain and her friends for a while now.
I still say Rain should've come out to her in person though. Or am I being oldfashioned and is this normal nowadays?
I just thought it would be funny if Emily thinks Rain is a transwoman who wants to become a man.
OK, the more I read this comic, the more I can actually imagine this happening in real life and then my mind wandered to "Movies. At least a few of them. No arc left out."
If you were offered to get your comic made into enough movies to cover your comic's entire story, would you accept the offer? If you had full creative control (can make any changes to anything the scriptwriter and director casting director and set director does), so you could make sure everything's just right?
Also... *cough*couldigetcastedasrain?*cough* >_>
