Starting the chapter with two double-page updates in a row. I hope you guys don't get too spoiled. This scene, while necessary, I worried was a bit of a slow way to jump back into the story after hiatus, so I just felt like moving it along might be appreciated. XD
So, yeah... Center Con. To my knowledge, that's not actually a thing. My research yielded no results at least (but I suppose that might not mean anything). Either way, hopefully I'm right and I can avoid getting sued. XD
As for Fara and Colin, could it still work? Does Fara even want that? Does Colin? I mean, we still don't know what Colin said specifically, but you'd have to imagine it was pretty nasty to result in practically immediate break up. I mean, it's easy for Rain to forgive, because all she knows is he said something bad once, but is now giving her tickets to an anime convention. Does that make it better for everyone though?
Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.
Also, I've said this before, but I'm trying to raise money for SRS, and I'm still struggling with it. If you can help, it would be most welcome. If not, don’t worry about it. I totally understand (you don't need to feel bad or apologize if you can’t).
Love Colins face in the 3rd to last panel, looks like he can overhear your whispering convo rain :P
I dunno. I mean, I've made amends with people who apologized for saying really transphobic things before, but I don't know if that's something I'd recommend for everybody. Maybe they can still be friends or something though
Rain's outfit is so cute in this page! I see hope for Colin and Fara becoming friends, but to be together again? I don't see that happening.
I think it is cool of Rain to be ready to forgive and forget anything Colin may have said. However, she didn't hear it, Fara did.
I am proud of Fara for sticking up for Rain every time. But she has to admit, people screw up. Sometimes it is better to forgive.
As for getting involved again? I dunno, that is a totally different conversation. She seemed pretty interested in him at one time, but if those feelings are gone, no reason to push it.
...Fara might have a bit of extra hesitation at getting involved with Colin after he said something negative about Rain's dysphoria, not only for Rain's sake but from her own experiences.
We know very little about Rain's parents, but we do know that Fara adored her big sister and that the bigoted Marcus abandoned his family. I always got the impression that wasn't the only thing he ever did to hurt Liriel and his kids too. :/ Fara might have the opinion that "even if he says sorry this time, who knows what he'll be like in the long run" validated by her experience of Marcus.
Or maybe I'm overthinking things and there's nothing more than the already valid reason that he said something bigoted about an issue she's already sensitive to and particularly aware of thanks to her niece potentially suffering from that bigotry.
Not sure how I feel about those last 2 panels. I'm guessing Rain doesn't mean that literally and she's actually just trying to reassure Farah that it's okay to date/be friends with him again, but it's not okay to tell someone they're being a jerk for not wanting to date someone, especially when the reason is that person having been an absolute [poo]
Incidentally, my tablet wanted to turn "jerk" into "Jedi" 0.o; XD
She's not calling Fara a jerk for not wanting to date Colin. She's calling Fara a jerk because she's frankly being a jerk. Fara's been pretty curt with Colin through this entire scene. For all we know, Colin probably deserves it. But keep in mind that Rain doesn't know the full situation, so to her it just looks like Fara's being uncharacteristically mean to this guy who just gave her free tickets to a convention.
And honestly, I don't think Rain cares if Fara goes back out with Colin or Vincent or finds a new person. She just wants her aunt to be happy. So Rain's essentially just relaying the message: "If you're being like this for my sake, you don't have to. I'm over it."
I hope that makes sense. ^_^
@LittleLynn84: it does. Thanks :)
Yeah, I couldn't help but feel that Fara was being Jerk-ish. I mean she didn't have to be that curt with him, I felt a little bad for him, though we don't know what he said.
On another note, I think its too late. I am totally spoiled by the two double pages in a row. Too late. >.<
No Fara don't go back with Colin D: Vincara ftw
@Guest: Just an aside, but I was really confused by your comment for a second because I commonly use "ftw" as "female to whatever". (Unless I'm feeling pissy, then it's usually "ftFkt" (female to Fuck It). Just an amusingly genderqueer way of looking at words, I guess.
I disagree with the author's suggestion that what Colin said must have been pretty bad. It *could* have been pretty bad, but Fara has demonstrated a somewhat limited tolerance for anyone badmouthing transgenders (and Rain in particular on that subject).
Good people occasionally eff up - and then, when they realize it, apologize and try to make amends. Colin has done that, if nothing else then in the form of those passes. Good people also see that happening and try to forgive. That's what Rain is asking Fara to do: forgive, and then see if anything more follows.
Nooo :o *launches torpedo at Fara×Colin ship* Go away. Shoo.
(aside, Fara's head looks a bit weird in the last two panels)
