Today's page features a cameo from one, Corey Lindsey, from one of my earliest stories: a sci-fi called Black Magic. This, like most of my other older works, never really saw the light of day. However, longtime followers of my DA page probably remember this character from my OCSC (Original Character Swimsuit Contest) days. She was very popular, and - I feel - a good fit for someone who would write and sell girl-love comics.
In addition, we get a shrunk down version of the abandoned other cover I mentioned in the blurb of the previous page. I hated the way it came out so much though, so that's probably as closely as I'll ever show it (it almost looks nice when you can't make out details). However, I will say that it features Ursula and Ellette from Shangri-La. Excitingly, unlike most other story cameos thus far, Shangri-La partially exists to the public in the form of a playable game demo. Those two characters don't do any making out in the demo, but it is potentially canon via player choices in the full version whenever I get back around to that.
Emily may not know those characters herself (or apparently how to read manga), but something about this one must've struck a cord with her because she totally just bought a copy. O_O (And again, since she's under 18, this is not hentai. It's just a little love story.)
Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.
Dammit Kellen! Not in public!
I guess Aiken didn't brief her on the *other* risks Rain faces.
Come on Kellen, I thought you were improving, don't make me loose faith on you!
I have a sad feeling that Rain is going to get in some trouble at the con when an unenlightened person discovers her secret. Kellen will have to witness the dangerous reality of Rains world firsthand. It's horrible but I'm starting to think that a sudden outburst of protective older sister is the only thing that will spur her towards acceptance.
@Nesagsar: I'm kinda hoping something bad does happen to Rain. I know that sounds sick and wrong, but... If that's the only way to steer Kellen on track... *Sighs* I feel horrible just saying that.
Before I read this I was like "Kellen, pls don't be a bitch pls don't be a bitch pls don't be a bitch."
I bet Kellen's gonna accidentally out Rain to the people at the con and get them kicked out, and then Rain will get MAD, because if there's one thing Rain loves, it's manga.
(And again, since she's under 18, this is not hentai. It's just a little love story.)
I tried googling 'lesbian anime' once, and got hundreds of thousands of results. I'd forgotten to turn on safe search. With safe search on? 0 results. Not 1.
@Dragon: I doubt that the con would kick them out, pretty much all cons have rules about inclusion of the LGBT folks. What is more likely is that Rain just wouldnt feel safe there.
@Nesagsar: True enough. All the same, sooner or later Kellen is gonna get a verbal bitch slap from Rain. I hope it's sooner.
Oh godammit Kellen
@LittleLynn84: I introduced myself to everyone on the island I can find, but I still can't get into the house with Abel and the Elder dude where they're talking about stuff. Is this as far as it goes right now? I want more D: It's like pokemon but I think I like it even more than pokemon :c
There may still be someone else you need to introduce yourself to. Once you've talked to everybody, it will automatically go on to the next scene. There's one particular guy way up in the northwest end of town (the screen changes) that I recall a lot of players having trouble finding. Something for me to keep in mind for the full game.
@LittleLynn84: Ok. Ty :D There's more of this awesome game left!
Looking forward to playing your game demo!
Also, Kellen appears to have donned her ace apparel. Coincidence?
Omg Jocelyn! I will wait as long as I must to get to play the full Shangri-La game :) The demo is fantastic and gave me the feeling I've gotten from playing great classic RPGs. Anybody who hasn't played this thing yet, go play it, NOW! :D
Shangri-La is like, way better than Pokemon. Moar D: MOAAAR :'(
*sigh* Last page it seemed as if Kellen was starting to turn around a bit. But here she's as dense as ever again.
Please don't let Kellen ruin Rain's day of fun.. :(
Really hoping Kellen gets the message by the end of the chapter, but time'll tell. Also I love Emily's reactions. She may in fact become my favorite character at this rate <3
Emily ain't leaving no space for error huh?
@Almightyra: Using her old name could be dangerous in public. Emily has to make Kellen understand that.
That she still thought Emily and Rain were dating just adds yet another dimension of awfulness to "you don't really look the type that'd be into that" :/
@Allie Oh i didn't even notice that. I thought I could give kellen the benefit of the doubt (i really thought she might be getting a little better) and maybe it was a slip of the tongue. I mean she's been callling rain, ryan for so long it might just of been habit but yeah now.. damnit kellen.
I have to say that they do make a good couple
(Kaminari and whoever the other one is, I forgot don't judge)
OOHH nvm Aneko+Kaminari
Frankly, I'm impressed that Rain hasn't just outright told off Kellen yet. I didn't put up with nearly this much misidentification from people before telling them "if you don't get it right, I will stop responding." Then again, I didn't really have any particular drive to keep a connection to those people and the thought of losing them didn't hurt me all that much.
Well, at least at a con is one of the safer spots to fuck up... You see all sorts there, someone who just happens to be trans is pretty much at the bottom of the weirdness list.
(Really, though, I'd feel safer being outed at an anime convention than to a room full of other trans people. Weird, sure, but I just feel *safe* there.)
Jocelyn, I might just be speculating a bit too far, but if Rain meets Chiaki Koizumi here at the con and Kellen continues her behavior... Well, bad things will happen and Rain will be eternally crushed.
Or maybe by then Kellen will realize her how wrong she is and apologize? But with her current behavior I doubt she'll accept Rain anytime soon.
Even if Emily supported Rain through that situation (which I'm sure she would, she's a great friend)I doubt Rain would be able to survive for the rest of the con without breaking down in tears.
But who's to say Chiaki wouldn't support Rain too? I highly doubt that though, because that'd be a bit too plot convenient. Especially since LGBT rights in Japan are even more restricted than they are here in the US.
Lots of things are gonna be happening. I just hope for the best, for Rain's sake.
Where is the demo for Shangri-La? I'd like to try it, but I don't know where to look. Thank you.
She is so shipping her little "brother" (sister) with emma.
then again, who isn't. lol
