And so we finally start a scene that should've been shown a while ago, featuring the meetup of Kylie and Drew. Since it is technically a flashback now, this scene will be in black and white.
What do you think so far? Is this off to a good start or potentially not so much?
Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.
Also, in case you hadn't heard: there is more surgery in my future. This will mean another lengthy hiatus (though I hope not as long as last time). The surgery date is set for February 23rd. I'm just going to keep posting until then. This Friday - February 20th - will be the last post before I go on hiatus for this.
I don't like asking for help, but donations and book sales would probably help me out a lot at this time. Don't sweat it if you have nothing to spare, but if you can help, anything would be most welcome. Thank you.
Also, my wife reopened our Etsy shop. She does excellent work with crochet, and makes scarves and wristbands featuring the colors of various pride flags (and even an Ivan plushie). Be sure to check it out. ^_^
At least he's letting her know that he's trying to adjust :)
wow! Drew is being much more open-minded about this than I expected him to be.
@anothernelliebly: Hope for humanity can be found a plenty.
Hope your surgery goes well and your recovery goes well too <3
I'd say he's reacting pretty well, so far!
Btw did you know Akinator recognizes Rain? :D
Yes. I've had Akinator guess Fara and Gavin before too. ^_^
Considering this is a boy who grew up being told that homosexuality is a sin a bisexuality doesn't exist? MAJOR progress here, credit where it's due, Drew, you are doing well.
It wouldn't surprise me to learn that, sadly, he missteps shortly after this somehow, which would be fairly true to how life goes (heck, even Gavin took a while), but even getting THIS far is impressive, and shows strong promise for him going much further.
That's in the worst-case scenario where he missteps. If he doesn't, even better.
YES!!! Finally fluid problems get more time in the comic! Fluid problems and struggles need to be put out on the internet far more.
@Nesagsar: there need to be more genderfluid characters in existence period. :)
Well, he just figured out he's not straight. If you've had your worldview shaken up, it's not such a big step to shake it up some more. Go Drew ^_^
Still not sure if I like him hanging out with Ky, but we'll see where this goes.
It makes sense to me that Drew is at this point in one-on-one interactions with Ky. If that's all you're asking, then in my (limited experience) opinion this seems realistic. If you want any cents on Drew overall, what I worry about is more how he acts under the social pressure that (I think) he has previously found so intense. Good or bad, for me the test is how he deals with people asking him about Ky, about Drew's own orientation, how would he treat Ky around his friends, and so on. I would like to see a scene like that one way or another, because otherwise one might just assume that open-mindedness is enough, versus strength of character. Does that make sense?
@LittleLynn84: I know it's been quite a while since I've commented, but I've been lurking. :) The struggles you've been going through break my heart, hon.
I haven't been able to help out much, but I do talk about your comic often, and send people your way. My daughter has recently been talking to us about being bisexual. She's a bit young (she recently turned 14), so she's still not sure what she wants yet, but it's great to see her figure things out.
I've directed her to your webcomic, and she loves it. I just bought 2 copies of volume 2 (one for her, one for me), so I hope that helps a little.
The comic is great, and I'm loving every one! Keep up the good work, and know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
SO KAWAII ^-^
I'm pretty sure this was the latest page that was up when I found out about this comic. It was definitely the page that got me into Rain. As I went back to the first page of the comic right away, for a while, I thought Rain was the gender-fluid character shown here. Imagine how confusing that was during the first chapter ^_^;
It feels kinda offensive in retrospect too...
Drew and Kylie are adorable together. This page really exemplifies what I like about Kylie and this shipping. Drew comes off better in other pages, but again, this one is adorable.
This may be my favorite page of the comic.
