I've been bored today, so I decided to test my limits and try drawing something. The verdict is that is was extremely difficult. I ended up cutting several corners to have this done sooner due to the fact that sitting in this chair and positioning myself for drawing is just plain uncomfortable.
But I know where I stand now. Obviously, I was able to do this despite my condition; it was just a bit harder than it would normally be. Perhaps I'll try again in a few days to see how I do. For those who are going to tell me I need to stop drawing and rest: please don't. Thanks.
Anyway, for this little exercise, I decided to draw Chie Satonaka from Persona 4. Pretty random choice, I guess. I mean, I adore Chie, but I was always more of a Yukiko girl, myself. But earlier today, I stumbled upon a fan's crackpot theory of how Chie could be a trans girl. Like many of those kinds of theories, I like the idea of it, if nothing else but to see a positive trans character in a story, but I don't necessarily buy it. The points make sense, but also feel forced; you know, like they could mean a lot of other things too. Still, it stuck out in my mind enough to cause me to want to draw Chie here. And the next time I inevitably play the game, I will probably be looking at her character under this light.
And I'm okay with this. ^_^
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this piece. Here's the crackpot theory if you're curious - http://i.imgur.com/spYm8oL.jpg
I'm glad you're doing well enough to draw! Keeping your mood boosted is really important for a quick recovery so doing something you enjoy is almost literally medicine. (Not to mention, this picture is adorable.)
Anyway, thank you for the update on your condition. I hope you feel better soon- my thoughts are with you. *hugs*
I think it's great that your trying to get back on the horse so soon after surgery. Does this mean we can expect lots if little mini comic strips kinda like what control alt delete did?
Glad you're feeling at least a little better! Feel all the way better soon!
Cool Drawing! Is the background taken from a photo? It's nice to see that you are trying to get back to what you love. Just be aware of your limits.
@Steph: I've seen a few videos of the game and I'm pretty sure it's a screenshot of the town the game takes place in.
... yeah, that's really, really forced. It's not like Persona 4 is *shy* about it when it wants to play about in that space.
(Also, 'cis woman' isn't really a proper descriptor for Naoto. Honestly her gender is Naoto, IMO...)
I'm not going to ask you not to draw-- I trust you to know how to limit your exertion bounds better than I ever could.
You seem to be finding your boundaries, but minding them. That's a relief to hear~
I hope I've not come across as overbearing-- I've no presumption of telling you what to do. I do have a tendency to be a bit of a mother hen.
So, sitting is uncomfortable, but you know where you stand now?
I see what you did there :P
I actually have yet to play the Persona games, but I see them all around the internet and I must say that Chie looks AMAZING in your art style. Mayhaps you could draw all the other party member once you feel better?
Yeah, your comic gives me something to enjoy between bouts of kicking alien scum off the planetary surface! I love lighting a cigar and sitting down to my laptop and cracking up at Rudy's hijinks or Gavin being clueless (typical Gavin).
Get better soon! You should totally draw me! I've always wondered what I'd look like put through your creative lense!
Please continue to feel better!~ I'm a newer fan, but honestly your comic makes me feel much more confident in who I am, ( Ky is my favourite along with Rudy, cause Ky is just like me!)
I hope you're feeling better.
I never realized how much i needed this comic to make it through the week.
