Behold the wall of text! :O
Although Rain and Emily are nowhere to be found, keep in mind that the text is all italicized, so this is actual dialogue from Rain right here. She may be shy, but man, can that girl talk when she's into the subject matter.
If we want to be technical, Rain's already gushed about Kaminari way back in Chapter 2. If you thought she said a lot then, keep in mind she kept it to a single panel. This fleshes things out a bit. Does that mean the story of Kaminari is actually plot relevant though? Sort of. Pretty much everything in there is symbolic (whether to the comic itself, or the themes within it), so there's actually a lot to take in.
Artistically, I've gotten used to drawing Kaminari a lot. The rest of her party, I'm still pretty new to (but it was fun, finally officially working these designs out). We've seen Aneko and the back of Hokori in a rare manga page sighting back in Chapter 3, but that didn't make this any easier. I tweaked Aneko's design a lot in particular. It's similar for sure, but I thought her original look was a bit blah compared to how flashy Kaminari was. Hokori's design meanwhile is almost entirely based on a character from an abandoned story of mine from ages ago. I think he fits pretty well here. Rei was completely new. I made him up as I went. He's not my best, but I still kinda dig the way he came out. Especially his staff. ^_^
Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.
You could make a side-story of this manga :3
XD Wow Rain! Showing the fan girl side of you. =) But totally IRL, you could make a story of this. You've got a good start so far.
Forgive me for thinking of a certain scarlet sister... although her wings weren't exactly black.
What happened to the baby she saved? Since she caught the baby and then slowed down their fall, the baby should be ok, right? But it doesn't look like she's taking it with her. Is it adopted by the farmers or something?
Bah. I meant to mention that. Yes, the farmers offer to take care of the baby. I'll edit that in later.
I love it :D
I love it! I am a massive fan of fantasy settings and this one is just awesome. Would be a great story if actually turned into one.
So... This is going to be published by Dark Horse right? Cuz it really should be. Like for real published. Please?
Is Kaminari by any chance left-handed?
I ask because I happen to have some experience handling staves (and by extent, spears), and in my experience, the hand in back is the dominant one and the one in front is the supporting one--with Kaminari's grip as it is, her left hand would be the back hand.
is there a bit of a hole in the story of the first panel it says that kaminiari and the child that she jumped of the side of the kingdom to save 'both managed to survive' but then in the last block for that page it says 'even though she was the only one on the surface world with wings' what about the child. did she give it to a farming family did it die some where else, wouldn't it be another person with wings besides her?
As I told someone else, I meant to mention that. Yes, the farmers offer to take care of the baby. I'll edit that in later.
First off, I have been following Rain for about a year. I absolutely love your work! Thank you for everything! Also, are you planning on making Kaminari into its own series or just leave bits in Rain?
The black winged outcast in world of angels concept reminds me of a shounen-ai manga by Yun Kouga called Earthian. It has a similar concept but I've only seen the 4 episode anime and...it's not very good. I haven't read the manga and I plan to.
Have I ever mentioned that Breath of Fire II is among my favorite RPGs of all time? Sure, it's behind Earthbound, but it's definitely my second or third favorite. Never did finish it, though: sadly got some issues with my save at some point.
I'll definitely replay the whole game in a few years from now. The game deserves it ;)
On a slightly more related note, you should probably remember to add in the info on what happened to the baby to this page before you end up publishing it in Volume 4 :p
The last block made me tear up a bit.
