Okay. So... that happened. O_O
But why? Although I don't believe it's ever been directly said in canon, I have said multiple times in comments that Jessica is straight. Heather herself claims to be straight too. But you know, alcohol has told a different story about Heather before.
Except Jessica is the one leaning forward here. She's the one initiating (and somewhat unexpectedly, gauging by Heather's reaction). Does this mean she's questioning? Does this mean she's not hetero after all? Or is this simply experimentation? Or desperation? Or both?
Or just tomorrow's hangover regret?
So before you all start sailing your ships or ranting over how there are too many queer characters in my queer comic, consider all the factors of what's going on. Because there is a lot to think about here. Also, sorry to say, but be prepared to think about it for a while, because we will not be seeing them again for the rest of this chapter.
One last thing. Speaking of chapters, the current one is titled "Of Cons and Kisses". In the 37 pages of this chapter so far, there's been a fair bit of our heroine at the con, but kissing seems to have been rather absent. Is THIS scene what the chapter title is referring to? Sort of. I mean, it says "Kisses", so there could be more between other characters coming up...

ITS BEAUTIFUl. I SHIP IT. Or do I? Or am I just kidding? I dunno. I'm just really silly :P
...straight girls with lesbians- assuming the straight girl is straight as an arrow, unless both parties are into it, of course. But then that wouldn't be a (relation)ship, would it? More like a lust thing? What would one call a favored pairing for lust? A lust bus? Hmm...
@ErintheGayLemur: I DID TOO
Well, sexuality is not solid. I am not going to be surprised either way whether it is a one time experiment or Jessica is not actually hetero at all.
I am more interested in how people live their lives than what labels we are going to assign to them.
Jessica is confident enough to do that without questioning her sexual orientation. She IS straight, but she is just willing to help Heather figure it out for herself. Am I right ? Oh please say I'm right, because I DO want Jessica to get back with Aiken, now that he is on the verge of the allies team !
@Gulby: if that's what she's doing, then she should say that explicitly tbh. Although I get that she's drunk and wouldn't necessarily have thought it through
...eeeeeeeeeeee! (collapses out of breath)
I think there's a typo in Panel 4 shouldn't it be
'About It sometimes'
After making a fairly heavy Excel Saga reference earlier, I've still got it on the brain.
So I feel this comic needs a "Today's experiment..." screen :D
Yeah, Heather is either bi or lesbian. I hope this is enough for her to figure it out.
As for Jessica, I think this will be one of those drunk regrets. I hope she doesn't end up hurting Heather.
Shipping.. Hmm, that's kinda hard. Jessica should get back together with Aiken (yeah, it's unusual for me to ship a straight couple, but they fit together very well). The only other adult women around are Fara, who already has Vincent, and Kellen, who I'm not so sure of, but probably isn't open to anything queer for the time being.
I look forward to Heather and Kylie getting along better once Heather joins the queer team.
So many people called it! I didn't, I was certain it wasn't going there :P
That was easy
As for "too many queer characters", I count less than half of the cast who there's any particular indication might be queer, *including* Jessica and Heather. That's a totally realistic composition of a queer person's social circle. In fact, including everyone who's closeted or in denial or just assumed to be straight because heteronormativity, I'd expect queer people to be more common than straight people irl
Oh, I agree. But every time someone comes out in the story (not that anyone came out on this page), it's suddenly "way too many queer characters to be realistic anymore" to some people. So I was just saying that to preempt and maybe prevent such comments if I could.
@LittleLynn84: yeah :/
If it helps, I have 3 people in my social circle that are straight and/or cis, compared to over a dozen queer and/or trans people that I can think of offhand.
I don't think there's anything unrealistic about the amount of queer characters in your comic.
@LittleLynn84: Just to nitpick, there is no change in the queer head count in this comic
As a certain George might say..... Oohh my! 8-)
Because Jessica's hairstyle is just like the one in your new profile piccy, I think you secretly took over her character just to confuse us :)
My god! You're right! I didn't even notice, but I totally have Jessica hair! O_O
Curse you, alcohooooool! This will freak Heather out so much. Heather basically refuses to acknowledge non-trans people even exist, and she seems to have some sort of problem with non-hetero sexuality too now. This is bad.
