This may be hard to follow, so to sum up:
The child ends up being little Ryan (in regular, non-fantasy clothes). Rain mostly goes back to normal upon seeing him. Kellen attacks by throwing a dagger at a no longer armed Rain, who jumps to the defense of her child self. And then her wings are severed in the process. It's a LOT to take in.
Don't even worry if you don't get it all. It does all mean something (I'll leave it up to interpretation for now), but it's presented so quickly and is so weird. I really wanted to capture that seemingly unstructured randomness that even the most "plot driven" dreams can devolve into. At least, that's my personal experience. I have pretty strange and vivid dreams though.
Also, I strongly considered blood on the last panel for dramatic effect. Even now that it's posted, I'm still humming and hawing over it. I mean, it would have purpose. It wouldn't be just for the sake of having blood and violence. However, it IS a bit intense for the usual mood of the story. I think for what I'm going for thematically, it would make more sense, but I know I'm already shaking people up with these last few pages and decided to go the safe route. Thoughts, anyone?
Anyway folks, the dream is almost at it's end.

I forgot to mention this in my original blurb so I'll just make this new post and hope people see it:
After this chapter, there will be a one-week hiatus. The last update for the chapter will be July 6th, and then Chapter 26 will begin on July 15th. I actually have some Rain Delays ready to go, so hopefully maybe it won't feel like a hiatus.
And the purpose of this is to work on Volume 3, so it's not exactly a vacation. I'm just lightening the load for a little bit. Sorry for the inconvenience, but thanks for your understanding, Rain Beaus. ^_^
This isn't a dream anymore, it's a nightmare D:
@pretty jodye flacko: What do you mean? People lose body parts in my dreams all the time.
@wyrmspawn: We have very similar dreams.
since i know of no search feature on this website. wouldn't kellen and bandit leader see kaminari as kidnaper of baby bro based on both dream and wide awake storylines up to this point?
Hey, this is my first time commenting here, so first of course I have to say how much I love this story. When I'm feeling down it makes me smile.
I'm quite happy that you didn't include blood, but that's just because I find violence quite difficult to take. I really like how Rain can tackle difficult subjects without having to visually show the unpleasant details.
Things just got real... fast
This shows how bad it hurts Rain when her family fights who she is. Furthermore it shows that Rain will defend herself even if it hurts to do it.
As far as blood goes, to me blood represents pain. No blood, and Rain felt what we would feel if we had paper wings on our back and they got chopped of. Put a little tinge of red on the severed nubs, and it indicates that she felt some physical pain. Put lots of blood splattered around and I'd assume that it's life threatening (which would be weird, as this is a dream).
Also, the red handle of the knife helps add some 'bloody' feel to the panel without actually including any blood.
@Arcanist Lupus: I was going to say that too: because of the red handle, it actually felt like there was some blood even though there wasn't. When I read the commentary I had to go back and look because I was sure I had seen blood,
all i can think is "get rekt" but honestly, i think blood might've been a good idea but its good either way
?im too confused for it to be weird.
Awww... Poor KiminaRain.
