Why yes, this could have absolutely been a two-pager revealing Rain's new hairstyle on the second one. ;P
This page is solely here to draw things out. I feel like I originally planned it out so that this one would land on a Friday too for maximum teasing. Must've added/removed/paired up a page somewhere and didn't take it into account. Oh well. One less day of suspense then, I guess. XD
Anyway, in all seriousness we're going to see Rain's new hairstyle for the foreseeable future of the story on the next page, so some drawn out buildup felt necessary. That and I saw a perfect opportunity for some classic Aunt Fara teasing. A little lightheartedness never did any harm, and I feel like it's been a while. ^_^

I love Emily's face in the third panel. XD
Was a tease both to Emily and to the audience.
Panel 3 Emily is not amused :p
@Asuyuia: Even less so in Panel 4
Oh my gosh, Fara's face in the last panel. Man Jocelyn you drew her face so well. Her absolute love for Rain is so apparent just from how she's looking at her. I love it
^What Trassa said.
@LittleLynn84: this page is here "solely" to "draw" things out.
I absolutely would have murdered someone for cutting my hair. Also fun fact, did you know cutting someone's hair without their permission is considered assault with a deadly weapon? Rain could press charges.
@Rain: What state would that be? i can't believe that might be a US Federal statute!
@Rain: I'm not entirely familiar with the laws in question, but I believe that it would more likely qualify as battery, rather than assault.
Assault, from what I gather on the Wikipedia page, is about the threat of harmful contact, while battery describes the actual contact. Kellen didn't do any threatening, but hair cutting could be considered 'offensive touching'. The big question in my mind is whether it fulfills the requirement of an "Unlawful application of force" which seems rather vague to me. And I don't know what the rules are for defining a 'deadly weapon'.
But for Rain to press charges, it would involve explaining why she finds getting her hair cut so offensive. This would mean outing herself before a strange court, and that's on top of the pain and suffering that going to court puts you through. Rain doesn't want to press charges, even if there was a guarantee that the court would rule in her favor.
This may be worth pointing out to Kellen though. Kellen still doesn't understand why what she did was wrong, and pointing out that legally it's a crime (if indeed it is) may help drive the point home to her. Something for Vincent to bring up in the talk I want the two of them to have.
According to US Code
Assault = Any Unwanted Contact.
Battery = An Act of One sided Physical Abuse.
Aggravated Assault = Unwanted and Unwarranted Confrontation/Contact Involving a Weapon or Object that can be considered one.
From a legal viewpoint, under US law Kellen could be charged with Aggravated Assault & Battery of a minor (depending on Rain's Age) if Rain or Fera wanted to take things to that level, but it would definitely involve going to court.
I'm not a lawyer but that is the definitions that one told me.
@Lenneth: Lets not forget that its with a deadly weapon.
@Lenneth: I stand corrected. Thank you.
I also stand by my point that the last thing Rain wants to do is get anywhere near a court.
um "Everything" can be used as a "Deadly Weapon".
