Okay, NOW we can get to school!
Panel 6 might be a new favorite of mine. Something about Emily - the non-otaku of the group - discovering that she's really into girl love comics after picking one up on a curious whim amuses me so much. Can't help but wonder what Drew and Debbie must be thinking she's talking about.
By the way, Rain's not in yet. So if no one's talking about her haircut yet, it's because no one's seen it yet.
Oh, and hey, brief cameo from the rest of the main cast! XD
Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.

You know what couple would make a great girl love comic? RAINILY!!!! Also MarNel. And maybe Jennither.
Jennither? Actually, shouldn't it be Jessither?
@LittleLynn84: My guess is Fara's trouble getting Jessica's name right is rubbing off :P
@Allie: there are functionally infinite names for that ship. Glad you guys got the metajoke.
lol, chat you up later.
Have I forgotten about the one thing, or are we not meant to know about it yet? Or is she talking about knowledge of Rain's feelings or something
EDIT: Ohhhhhh, she got a shoujo-ai comic! I misinterpreted that panel at first, I thought she was thinking back to what Drew wanted her to get him :P
Oh my holy ships Chanel is short
@Zack: Also: Nooooo Emily
Don't ditch your friends
They may not be your new friends but Debbie at least has always been there for you!
@Zack: She's in "Crisis Management Mode". Needs to give the gang prior warning of Rain's haircut so they don't freak out. In that frame of mind, things like not looking like you're ditching an old friend for the new ones don't really rate as priorities.
"Hey guys. Listen up. Shit happened this weekend. When Rain gets here, compliment her hairdo, don't ask how the con went, and DO NOT mention her sister AT ALL. I'll explain later when there's more time."
@Don Edwards: I wish they wouldnt compliment a hairstyle she didnt want and dosent like. It might be better for them to just be understanding.
@The Aussie Bloke: Fair point!
And I never realized I never posted the height comparison chart I made a little while back.
Oh well. I'll just drop a link like this:
But yeah, Chanel's the shortest character in the story by far. XD
@LittleLynn84: Chanel is *4'10"?!!?* I want an adorable teensy girl D:
@LittleLynn84: wow, Chanel's even shorter than me! That's not something you see very often.
OMG, you really are trying to draw this out for as long as possible, aren't you? XD
@TallMist: I don't think she's trying to drag it out, I think she's just trying to provide a good introduction.
Drawing it out? No.
Setting the stage so that everything unfolds logically AND the way I want it to? Yes. ^_^
@LittleLynn84: "From a certain point of view." - Obi-Wan
Really, though, the suspense is killing me. XD
@LittleLynn84: what about *drawing* it out? :D
I see what you did there. :D
Good for Emily! Rain is going to have a hard enough time without needing to explain the whole deal to her friends as well. And Rudy is prone to speaking before he thinks.
Please draw noses on your characters... your art looks tremendously better when you actually put noses on them. It's bad enough that they all have same-face syndrome (but you are pretty consistent with face-shape [i.e., bone structure/fat distribution]).
Your art has improved, but you never push yourself in the right direction. I'm not sure if you think this is a style thing, but no noses is /VERY/ weird, and, as a fellow artist, quite scary. At least a little line or a shadow representing a nose will suffice. It is very distracting when I read the comic and all I can do is play the "where's their noses?" game.
If their face isn't dead straight, there needs to be a visible nose, or if they're so off in the background that it doesn't necessarily matter, that's fine too. But I've been reading this comic for years and it bugs me so so so so much that you only draw noses for ~special~ strips (such as Rain's new haircut reveal) OR when it is a complete profile view. There is something we are taught in basic introductory art courses: draw the nose face according to the angle. When we turn our heads, our noses don't disappear.
Due to your anime-ish, cartoon-y style, I recommend looking at a bunch of screenshots of anime. You will see how they draw the noses in a good variety of face angles. I honestly think that will make an incredible difference in your comic, because when you DO draw noses, they're super exaggerated and half of the size of someone's face, sticking out so beyond their forehead that it's kinda unhuman.
@constructive criticism: I personally love the no noses- what bothers me is when they don't have mouths.
@Anonymous11243: I haven't noticed her not drawing mouths in a while, actually! I think she's making improvements on that.
@constructive criticism: concrit is great and all but you seem awfully worked up over something that really doesn't matter?
@lmao: i dont know what you consider "awfully worked up", but i'm just slightly irritated about this. i read various other webcomics, and ive seen their art styles change drastically... i know it's possible. hell, just look at questionablecontent. that's some HUGE improvement. ive never seen her respond to any comments like mine before.
in any case, i know she can do so much better, because if she drew every strip like she did for rain's new hair reveal, this comic would be so much better, and maybe i'd buy the physical copy. ._.
also heaven forbid someone actually go into detail about what they're giving c.c. for... if you interpret that as being worked up, i dunno what to tell you.
Interesting how Emily's covering her stomach up like that....
@Medway: Which makes me wonder how she hides her pregnancy... I hope she is not compressing her stomach as that couldn't be good for the baby and herself...
Also that reminds me of that plot point: she would get expelled if she is found pregnant before marriage and stuff right? This is a ultra conservative catholic school and all (at least in my impression)
This strip takes place on 2/25/13 and was posted on 9/25/15. That's only 2 years and 7 months difference between comic time and real time. (I somehow thought the difference was far greater.)
fictional time rarely matches real time. it can speed up,slow down,or stand still.
