Five years ago today, the first page of Rain went up. I don't know if that's quite as unreal to you folks as it is for me. I've had projects that I've thought about for five or more years, but none that have been actively and consistently worked on AND accessible to the public for that entire time. I feel like I say something like that every year, but I'm quite literally becoming more surprised every year. 'Cause I mean, not only am I still going five years and counting... I still have a ways to go, and plan to follow it through to the end.
Thank you, Rain Beaus, for joining me in this journey. ^_^
Normally, I do a montage of panels from pages that went up over the course of year for the anniversary posts. It's been kind of a weird year though. Thanks to having to take leave for several months for health reasons (and then posting half a chapter only two pages a week), there's actually been a lot less content to work with this year. And most of what is there revolves pretty strictly around Rain and Emily. Not that many would complain about that, but it doesn't leave a lot of room for diverse panels to work with.
So this year, with 5 years being kind of a big deal, I thought I'd really lay out the whole series thus far with all the chapter covers lined up from oldest to newest (even including the bonus chapter covers). Hope you all like it. ^_^
I love you all so much! Have an amazing day!
I have been reading Rain for 5 years, wow! :) 5 years apparently goes by quite quickly. I started reading it about 3 pages in. Thank you so much for sticking it out all this time!
Wow, I been five years. I thought I was alot older then that. But then again I have only be reading a about a year.
Great work on reaching half a decade
I have found Rain only one year ago and I really feel it's a shame that I didn't found it sooner. I love your webcomic, from the story to the characters and all in between :D
It also turned my life a little upside down since it made me aware about some things about myself and raised some questions I conveniently ignored my whole life. I don't know yet if this is a good or bad thing, but, oh well, life is never that easy, right? XD
So, thank you for this amazing webcomic and keep up the good work.
I raise my glass to the next five (or more) years to come *Cheers!*
5 Years! Yea! It's been a great comic to read throughout and I'm looking forward to it continuing.
Will volume 3 have a special bonus thing like the last 2?
You mean, like the bonus chapter? Why, yes. You can actually catch a sneak peek of the cover in the above montage, between Chapter 22 and 23. ;)
@LittleLynn84: I am having a lot of health problems this year to. Not a good year I think for most. I hope to read more soon. Rain as been very helpful to me in a time I needed it. I read Misfile to. But I needed a new one that cover5s much more of a real life like transgender characters. You hit it out of the park unlike most. :P
I only found this a month ago! I already love it so much I asked for the 2 volumes that are out for Christmas! I literally read the whole comic up until the most recent in one go the night I discovered it. I was hooked from the beginning and it has made me feel safe and secure in being confident about my own identity!
I've been hunting all over your website, but haven't found a link to whoever sells Rain volums 1 & 2 (and who I assume will sell vol 3 when it comes out.) You might want to add a link to your header (the one with "HOME", "FAQ", etc.)
BTW, I also looked at the FAQ page, but on my browser, it comes out as grey-on-grey, so I have to reconfigure my browser to force black-on-white before I can read it.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to more Rain, and if Vol 3 comes out in time, (or if I find the link to buy Vol 1 & 2), I'll put it on my Xmas list.
P.S.: I really love this webcomic, I can't wait for the next installment.
Volume 1 and 2 are available here:
That's where Volume 3 will be as well (likely within the next couple weeks). I'll probably be submitting it today, so it's definitely coming soon. ^_^
Thanks for the link (even knowing it's on Lulu.com, it's almost impossible to find without that URL.)
One thing I noticed: they describe it as being in black and white. Is that right? The color that's in the web version gets lost when you print it?
Yeah, if you lose the link, I've found that the best way to search it on Lulu (for future reference), is to type in Rain by Jocelyn. Apparently, I did not have the foresight to realize "Rain" would be a very common book title. My bad. XD
But yes, the books are in black and white. Color pages are absurdly expensive (it'd end up being a base price of nearly forty). I just don't think most people would be willing to pay that much.
Rain is one of the prime examples for why webcomix is my favorite kind of media nowadays
thanks for your great work and hopefully to another five years (or however long it takes you to finish your story ;))
Congratulations on getting this far! Here's to many more chapters! X3
Just added this image to my desktop wallpaper rotator.
It won't turn up all that often, since i have like 2,800 images in there (of which 700-plus are from Wapsi Square) but it'll get there every so often.
Congrats on the 5-year mark! I'm thrilled to have been along for the ride (well, a good portion of it anyway). "Rain" is definitely one of my most favorite comics. <raising cup of coffee> Here's to another 5 wonderful years!
It has been a fun ride.
Congrats on the 5 year Mark! I began reading at the beginning, and now I am catching up again after a hiatus. I always wondered what would have happened if I transitioned in HS, and I know that times are different now, perhaps better, perhaps worse. Thanks for getting this far, and I wish many more years of Rain!
