Hum. I'm sure this won't complicate things at all. O_O
And Maria did indeed say that panel four flashback line. Word for word.
Also, my "scene-per-week" model for this chapter goes sort of askew here because this scene WILL carry on into next week as well. So at the very least, you won't be left hanging on this note for weeks. Just days. That's a plus, right? ^^;
Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.
Er-hem. I hope this doesn't detract from story-related comments, but as you may or may not have heard, I've got an appointment for SRS consultation scheduled for... holy geez, tomorrow at noon. Maybe - just maybe - something good will be in my future. This also means your help was never more welcome if you're willing and/or able. Buying books, or shirts, or scarves/wristbands, or just plain donations are all very helpful right now. Obviously, if you are unable to or don't want to offer anything, that's totally fine. There are other ways you can help. Like voting for Rain on TopWebComics or joining/sharing the Facebook page can help spread the word about my work. Thanks for anything you can do; no hard feelings if you can't. ^_^
Okay, I'm back, sitting at my computer, in a state of perpetual bliss, and ready to go into a little more detail. ^_^
Back at New Year's, a friend and I - while drunk - decided this was going to be the year we finally make our move towards SRS. We both made a consultation appointment with Dr. Kathy Rumer later that week, which ended up being on the same day, just an hour apart. That day was yesterday. And the two of us took a little four hour road trip to see her.
The consultation went super swimmingly. As many of you have been describing to me, the appointment consisted of talking about the operation, her particular technique, recovery and more, alongside being shown post-op pictures. Both of us were completely satisfied with everything we'd heard and seen. May 3rd will be the day of BOTH our surgeries.
I don't think it's totally clicked that this is happening yet. I'm of course absurdly excited, but I think the whole thing still feels like a dream. I expect to realize what's going on a few times over the next 93 days (but you know, who's counting?).
I also plan to be very transparent about this whole thing as I go. Partly because I'm excited, and will undoubtedly need to vent my hype as things develop. And partly because I want to help offer information to those considering this doctor and/or procedure. I felt like I had a lot of trouble getting information on this without asking others. But not everyone wants to answer (and they shouldn't have to), and not everyone is comfortable asking. So if I can freely offer my experience to help others, I can and will. ^_^
Now, more on-topic: how will this affect the comic?
Assuming nothing changes between now and then, the current chapter should actually end on May 2nd (which is a pretty nice coincidence). If that IS the case, it would be reasonable to expect a hiatus after Chapter 28's close. However, unlike a my cancer-related surgeries last year (which both resulted in two-month long hiatuses), I'd like to keep this one a bit shorter. Maybe two or three weeks, ideally?
Recovery will still be hard, I'm sure. And if my previous experiences with it are any indication, I really won't want to sit up and draw for extended periods of time. But it's also SO BORING to not be able to post and I get super anxious when I'm unable to advance the story. Posting however, I should definitely be able to do once I get home. So I'm going to try and work up a 2+ month page buffer that I can work with. This way, even if I can't draw, I can still post. After all, nobody wants to have to wait through yet another LONG hiatus to move the story along.
Least of all, me. ;)
And that's it for now. As promised, I'll keep you posted as things develop. ^_^
Good luck, in a totally blind and uninformed prediction, I think everything will go fine for you! :)
Do we need to start coming up with polyamorous ship names now?
@Nesagsar: Maraimely? Emarain? Regardless, I approve.
Oh God, I forgot Chanel. Abort, abort > ~ <
Law of Conservation of Detail says Maria & Emily's old relationship will cause some trouble, probably soonish.
Oh dear. Got ourselves a love square forming, huh? (Rain, Emily, Maria, Chanel)
This is amazing! Now I get the reason for the build up.
@TallMist: And now we know why they did not seem to get along. They never got over each other completely. :P
I don't know why but Maria looks really cute in Panel 5
*banging fists on the table and chanting* polyamory! polyamory! polyamory!
only problem is i can't picture that working for Chanel. She doesn't have romantic chemistry with Rain or Emily, and besides: three seniors and a freshman? Chanel is mature for her age, but that would be a highly unbalanced relationship.
omg! iceburg ahead off of port bow! all hands on deck of the s.s. Rainily! all hands on the ss rainily prepare for combat!!!
@pansexualangel: I honestly have no idea if I wanna ship Rainily anymore or Emaria
@TallMist: Go Rainily, Emaria means the breaking of Chanel and Maria >.<
Don't sink a ship over a different ship for that is the start of wars ...
@Asuyuia: Unless it's a polyamorus (I can't spell) relationship and all 4 get together or perhaps if Maria and Chanel break up, that's a chance to ship Chain (Chanel + Rain), which makes sense given a LOT of their interests are in common. I don't know if that'll happen, but I can't say it's impossible for the comic to go that route.
@TallMist: Yeah but those (multi-relationships) are in my mind (and without any research) more fragile. Keep it simple and have pairs for relationships. Boy-Girl, Boy-Boy, Girl-Girl and all the less simple ones like genderfluid and such, to each their own and such etc etc.
Also nice name for that Chanel+Rain ship "Chain" should be offical name for that ship! :p
@LittleLynn84: OMG so happy for you!
Take it easy, take it slow and deliberate.
And good luck! Squee, so excited for you!!
