Back to Gavin, Ruby, and Allison, at last.
But hmm... this is potentially interesting...
Not a whole lot to say about this one without the risk of spoiling something, so I guess have fun with this. ^_^
Rain, all characters and all other aspects of the story are copyright material belonging to me.
SRS is booked for me for May 3rd. As such, your support has never been more welcome. ^_^

he's doing the right thing. this is rain's thing to tell or not tell however she wish's. though he should explain that "ryan" changed alot and might not want to see her right now.. he'd have to ask
@Dzaka: He could just say that he was mistaken when he said that Ryan moved there.
@Guest: Maybe ... but that would lead to having to make up more "explanations" about how he could've been mistaken about Ryan going to St. Halvard's.
Finally somebody said it! Gavin, you are my new favorite.
I think this is a very good move on his part but still it going to be interesting how it turns out I think.
everyone is saying what an excellent job gavin is doing when i'm here thinking he shouldn't have mentioned "ryan" to begin with. She is going to continue wondering why she can't meet with "ryan" until rain finally has to crack and meet her. Basically gavin is forcing rain into an awkward situation without her even knowing it yet. He should have mentioned alison to rain and let rain decide if she wanted to meet with alison. Not make alison want to meet up with "ryan" so much that it gets weird if gavin has to keep making excuses cause he doesn't want to out Rain.
While I have to admit I look forward to all updates but I am slightly worried how things will go here. Partly because of the bonus chapters for the physical volumes and the effects it might have since it does very much seem certain things could vary depending how much it keeps an optional extra as more optional.
Always a risk with characters that are know more in bonus chapters than the web version. However I am hopefully worried over nothing and I should have more faith in the storyteller. >.<
As always can't wait for the next one. :)
I understand your concern. This chapter in particular has had a lot of nods to all three bonus chapters so far. As a result, book buyers do indeed have a little advance knowledge of certain things. However, by the end of Chapter 28, everyone should be on the same page. Any plot essential stuff in the bonus chapters thus far will be revealed. There will still be exclusive information in the books, but those developments are less relevant to the story as a whole and are there more just deepen the characters or experience. Nothing crucial to the online story will remain exclusive to the books.
The point of the bonus chapters isn't to leave anyone out, but to add additional insight for those who want it. Think of it like a game where there's a side quest that fleshes out a character or the world, but it's not technically required to beat the game. It's there if players want to learn more, but the experience isn't necessarily lessened if they choose not to do it. It's left as a personal choice for the player to make.
That's basically what I'm going for. And this chapter making these silent nods before fully revealing them to everyone is sort of a personal experiment to see how well I'm doing with that; you know, to make sure people who don't buy the books can follow along. So far, it seems like people can. Book buyers and non buyers definitely interpret things differently for now, but I don't feel like anyone's really failing to understand what's going on. And either away, I'll again say that we'll all be on the same wavelength soon.
I hope this helps a little. :)
@LittleLynn84: My second last sentence was about having faith in you :)
Have to admit I wonder how thing will progress and chatted with a steam friend about it a little. The books are awesome still and would recommend them to everyone even if just to see bonus chapters and have reading access if internet is down.
Also I do wonder if there are coloured versions of the bonus chapters out there. A young "Rose" avatar would be nice :p
Based on "Chekhov's gun", I'm pretty confident that Rain and Allison are going to meet.
Also, although it's been a long time in real-world time, in comic-world time, it's been only about 9 months since Allison last saw Ryan, so it's really unlikely that she won't recognize Rain as Ryan when they meet. (Gavin figured her out almost the first day, despite a much longer separation.)
We have evidence that Allison had feelings for him (remember the two Valentine cards?), plus -- well, anyone who hasn't bought the books will need to buy them to know more.
What only Jocelyn knows, of course, is how it will turn out. Or how long Jocelyn will make us wait to see it. (Will we see it before or after the SRS hiatus?)
@Asche: Wait, has it been 9 months in comic-time? Holy crap. That means we're about to hit lap 2 in just 3 months comic-time.
I doubt this will end the same way as it did with Aiken at all. This a completely new piece in the game (I love using sayings like that. Don't hate. lol) and things have been shaken up, but if past events are going to be taken into account, these are the only ways I see this happening:
1. Rain, or someone Rain tells them to, will tell her about the fact that Ryan is actually Rain. This results in either fallout or everyone is just peachy with each other. This could also be an alternative end result for options 2 through 4,
2. Rain doesn't tell and tells no one else to tell and the fact she's trans still gets out, again either resulting in either fallout or everyone getting along
3. Rain tells no one and tells the others not to tell, like in option 2, but this fact does not get out and is managed to be kept as long as Alison is in the picture. However, as previous commenters have pointed out, Gavin DID call Rain "Ryan" when talking to Alison and that'll make this outcome harder to achieve unless it comes to the possible option 4 which is:
4. Rain doesn't tell Alison and tells no one to tell her, but there's still fallout as a result due to Alison getting mad about some sort of "secret" she's being kept out of the loop of. Similar to option 2, but different nonetheless
Now, I have NO idea which of these would turn out or if there's a hidden 5th or 6th option I'm missing, but this is simply gut instincts here. If I had to place ANY bets, I'd say 2 is the least likely, since that's what already happened and I doubt this comic would tread the same road as before, 4 is a really conditional scenario, so it's not impossible, but I wouldn't rank it really high at all, so I'd say that's 2nd to least likely. 3 is the second most likely, though nearly in a tie with 4 for 2nd least likely for reasons stated, unless the comic goes into full chaos mode. I'd say 1 is the most likely.
This is just my theorizing, however, because, again, I have NO idea what Littlelynn is plotting for the plot (ba dum tss).
@TallMist: I had considered a really harsh possibility and for your own safety for possible future spoilers I advise everyone including myself to stop reading.
The possibility of leaks to the school due to Alison (accident or not) and "evil incarnate" Father Quenton well doing what he seems to do best >.<
@Asuyuia: For a second there, I thought you were calling my own comment spoilers and was like "Wait what?" until I reread that part of your comment. lol
Anyways, you are right. That's a huge possibility as well. If Alison's voice somehow manages to reach Quenton, that could be a whole world of trouble for Rain and everyone that knows about Rain being transgender. I suspect expulsion to be the least of every single last one of those peoples' worries if he finds out.
Funny thing is, I believe Littlelynn said a while ago that Quenton is going to have a bigger role to play in the future, so your prediction is scarily possible.
@TallMist: And Fara being fired.
@Barn0wl: Oh, that's true too... Man, Rain's in a tight spot here... For their sake, I hope my prediction is right and 1 is what happens and there's no fallout because a LOT of characters get screwed over otherwise.
@TallMist: Then again Alison could be totally accepting, keep everything hidden and even be attracted to Rain and asks her out. Who is to say it has to be a negative thing? Granted I think many ship Rainily (rain/emily) that might be some annoyed but hey can't please everyone (I am also a shipper of this).
@Asuyuia: I did say "Without fallout" and I doubt the secret is gonna be kept. I did say 3 is the 2nd most likely, but still not likely, in my eyes.
I SMELL TROUBLE EVERYWHERE! By the way, huge fan. Love where the comic went. Anyway, I'm terrified for everyone right now. Emily, Rain. It's all so much. Can't wait to see how this unravels.
... that Rain, Emily, Maria and Chanel are also all at the mall. Could be that the two groups will simply run into each other. It hasn't been that long since Allison has seen Rain (as Ryan), she might recognize her. What Allison's reaction would be, who knows (besides Jocelyn)?
Hey Jocelyn, what does the beaus in rain beaus mean? I don't think I've seen it in the comic and when I google it, it's defined as a male admirer...
Am I living under a rock or is this an inside joke?
@Snow Lilly: It's an inside joke. Rainbows. Rain. Beaus. Rain Beaus. Beau can also mean lovely or beautiful, I think.
It is no joke. "Rain Beau" is my totally serious name for the readers. ^_^
While "beau" is often a masculine-specific term, "Rain Beau" does not specify gender. It's a term I invented after all, so I can invent the rules that go with it. As such, Rain Beaus can be male, female, agender, bigender, genderqueer, genderfluid, and any other variation you can think of. Rain Beau is an all-encompassing term addressing anyone who reads this comic. ^_^
for those of you on the rainaly ship... all hand on decck and prepairr for combat.. or maby stormy weather.. there be trouble ahead....arrrggg!
