So from here, Rain and Allison will be going their separate ways tonight to rejoin their respective groups. But with a promise to keep in touch, you can bet this won't the last time they meet.
What are your thoughts on this meeting (as in, the last eight pages; not just this one)?

Rain FINALLY got a break from suffering for a few minutes.
I appreciated that.
Also it was a generally interesting interaction overall and it wasn't like any of the other stuff we got before.
@Pacce: No one gets a break from suffering
I'm really really happy with this turn of events! This is so sweet, but now I'm kinda dreading Emily's response haha..
Also there's a typo in the bottom left box, one extra me.
Allision is taking this quite well. I hope she is not crying inside. BUt then, it has been so many years already since they last met, so maybe she has been over it already.
Wait, wait, WAIT!!!
A completely straight character? WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?!?!
THEY DO EXIST!!!
@Nesagsar: Uh did you forget Gavin?
@KrimsonNekros: gavin has a kindof crush on rain he's having to work out for himself aswell as that girl he kinda got a thing for that last we saw her was going into SRS and she just hasn't shown up again yet.. he's not full on strait.. he identifies but in both of those cases has an attraction
Rain and Ana are both girls. No matter what "kind" of girls they are, they're girls. Liking them doesn't prevent Gavin from being "full-on straight".
@LittleLynn84: My version of completely straight implies that as long as Gavin himself is somewhat confused by feelings for transwomen he has enough ambiguity to be precluded from the completely bit of completely straight.
Saying Gavin isn't "completely straight" because of Rain is like indirectly saying that a trans woman isn't "completely woman". :/
But whether Gavin is confused by his feelings or not is irrelevant. He still identifies himself as straight. Maria's attracted to Rain and literally no one has ever questioned her status as a lesbian, so why should Gavin's being hetero be questioned for the same reason? And then Rudy demonstrated he can still call himself unquestionably gay, despite apparently having a romantic orientation that doesn't entirely match.
Gavin's straight, even if there's an exception to the rule. If the dude says he's straight, then he's just an "open-minded young man who is attracted to women".
@LittleLynn84: Maybe as a pansexual person I dont quite get straightness like other people do but it's also worth acknowledging that people are complex and variable. It's best to be skeptical of a claim that something is either always or never. Gender and sexuality are spectrums. A true extreme on an infinite spectrum is improbable and honestly frightening.
It's basic courtesy to accept people's self-identifications. I think this would be more obvious if Gavin were a real-life human being instead of a character in a webcomic.
In particular, sexual orientations often are as much about how one sees oneself and relates to others as about who one has sex with. E.g., one can be gay without ever having had sex with anyone, and one can be have sex and still be ace.
So Gavin sees himself as straight because the people he is attracted to (in that way) are all people he sees as female. For example, when Rain rather convincingly presented as male (book 2), Gavin suddenly didn't feel the same attraction.
I'm sorry if this comes off as ranty, but this whole differentiation between trans and cis pisses me off. You are either man, woman, or non-binary. Your physical body has NOTHING to do with your gender, your brain is the deciding factor. Trans men (post-op or otherwise) have the EXACT SAME brain structure as cis men and trans women have the EXACT SAME brain structure as cis women. So, if Gavin likes Rain it's ONLY because he likes women his age.
I am lucky enough to have been born physically and mentally male. That doesn't make me more of man than my bf who wasn't.
@-\_("/)_/-: No one is saying a transwoman is less than a woman than a cis woman or that a transman is less than a man than a cisman. At least, no one SHOULD be. It'd be transphobic if they were.
@TallMist: It seems as though NESAGSAR's comments implies that THEY do. I prefaced with an apology- and I meant it. When I had posted my comment, I had come off a heated argument with a friend of a friend who had call my bf a dyke, so I wasn't in the best of moods. Again, I apologize for the hostile tone.
Screw it, I still ship it! :P
so glad to see such a happy page!! the past few chapters, since the anime con arc started really... i always love this comic, even when it's sad or there's drama, but i really REALLY love the genuinely happy moments like this! it feels like all the heartache pays off to something! *cries* your writing is just so great aghhh!!
I'm surprisingly happy that she is straight. Less drama of her getting in between Rainily :p
Her character is very good with words, I have a hard time believing anyone would be able to say all this without having it practiced lots of times before. But it doesn't really look like that either. Eh, regardless, I'm happy everything went well :)
@-\_("/)_/-: The S.S. Rainily is sailing in the area and has been dispatched to rescue survivors.
@Nesagsar: A+ comment. Would read again.
What is it about everyone pushing people to get on a certain social networking site? Some of us specifically avoid them for various reasons
One word: Awwwwww
meh, so much for shipping wars
It's not over guys.... We arnt home yet.. We still have to navigate away from the frindzone zone...and hope the we make it to our destination there's still obisicals in the way..
@Pansexualangel: "Friend zone" No such thing. :P Remember the last time a relationship with Rain with sexualities that didn't match happened? Yeah... Not a good thing. I doubt it'd work any better with a straight girl dating Rain than it would with a gay guy dating Rain.
@TallMist: yeah..... I don't think..they are fully over that... And are we forgetting someone?.... I feel like we are forgetting a charater that was introduced... But they were swallowed by the void..or something
@Pansexualangel: I can't recall any recently introduced characters
@TallMist: the janu-waitcalits or something
Straight? Damn. Oh well. I still ship Rallison anyways. Still, though, I love this page. I loved how it turned out and how she got a break from it all for a few moments. :) These last few pages made me so happy to see. I hope we see more of Rain and Allison or just more of Allison in general. I have a bad feeling something is gonna happen to her, though. I can't place my finger on what, but...
is anastacia coming back?
Very soon. She still has a small role to come in this chapter, and then she'll become a bit more of a prominent player in the following chapters. ^_^
Thy vessel has sunken, pray that thou dost not drown in thy massive pool of tears. Quite.
And Allison complements Rain on her short haircut, and calls it girly! Without any foreknowledge of how important such a complement would be to Rain!
The ship may be sunk, but just for that Allison wins my prize for "favorite character in this comic". (Not that she wasn't fast climbing the ranks anyhow, but this sealed the deal)
I am not going to give up on these two just yet as I have said love can get past these things. :P
"straight as a nail" ignores the fact that nails get bent all the time. Maybe that nail hasn't met the right hammer...(I had to rephrase this line a dozen times, before I finally got it mostly innuendo-free ;)
Sorry Allison, your love must be relegated to "The Adventures of Ryan".
Well, that ship just did the T word.
Allison should totally just casually mention to Gavin and group just as she leaves that she had a nice time talking to Rain too.
Just caught up with this comic, its brilliant!
And very insightful on all the different identities and sexualities out there :-)
I'm crying. But they're happy tears. That's how I feel about this meeting. That's it.
She's right. I've been saying that haircut's cute on you all this time, and it is! (You need to dress to go with it for full effect, of course, but that's true no matter what.)
