You probably could've guessed, but this scene isn't over. Maria and Emily will be continuing this little chat next time.

But in the meantime, let's consider what's being said here. Both girls say kind of a lot here, but what's actually going on? What is Maria trying to achieve? What did inspire Emily's change of heart? What aren't they saying to each other? It's the last page before the weekend, but there's plenty to think about.

As you may probably know by now, I'm saving up for my (hopefully) upcoming SRS date in a few months. If you're able, you can help me out. Buying books, or shirts, or just plain donations are all very helpful right now. Obviously, if you are unable to or don't want to offer anything monetary, that's totally fine and I completely understand. There are other ways you can help. Like voting for Rain on TopWebComics or joining/sharing the Facebook page (or even just telling your friends!) can help spread the word about my work. Thanks for anything you can do; no hard feelings if you can't. ^_^

I wonder if Maria is going to interpret what's being said her as Emily carrying the pregnancy to term due to Maria's guilt-tripping her these past few years.

@Lenn: Maria might feel some guilt over things that have happened in the past as well as her own actions relating to them. So, this might just add to her guilt.

I think that Maria's thought processes here are going to be along the lines of, "If Emily has a baby I won't be able to have a relationship with her." Because come on we all know that's what she really wants

@lux: I don't think that Maria is that shallow. Besides, she's got a really good thing going with Chanel right now and she knows it. ;)

I really hate Maria's inability to let go from past crushes/relationships. Like, clearly Emily is far beyond where Maria is in terms of maturity. She went into this pregnancy knowing a lot of the repercussions, and having Maria remind her RIGHT BEFORE Emily takes a huge step forward is only holding her back.

I want to see Maria squirm when she learns that Emily and Rain are an item. I want Chanel to get angry at her, but I want them both to work it out together. Maria needs to do a lot of growing up.

@dun dun dun!:

What she's saying in this page is absolutely a voice of reason, no doubt.

But for me the timing to say that "Wait! There are other ways!" is so moot for Maria to do this at this point -- and IMO i find it disrespectful to question Emily's choice right before she takes action. Emily is already full throttle on going through with the birth, deciding to tell the faculty, and is going to keep it as her own even after telling Chase to go away.

It's kinda clear in the first panel that Emily knows that Maria is gonna give a shpeal about what she "could have done instead" and doesnt wanna hear it, either. Well, that's how I interpreted it at least... I may be off.

XD It doesn't help I never liked Maria. Bahahah

I think they're saying that Maria is predictable as hell and Emily can pick up on it.

Maria seems to me to be concerned about Emily. She may suffer some guilt over past doings, but I don't think that will color her feelings too much. I think that, in the end, Maria will be there to support Emily as a true friend should.
