Gratuitously cute page. I do always feel weird about including these. I mean, I like them ('cause I'm a hopeless romantic), but I'm always worried about them not really adding much to the story. And yet, I've been told they tend to be a lot of people's favorites. So just this once, I'm not going to question it. Besides, there's been enough people predicting impending doom throughout this scene, so having it close on an extra mushy note feels weirdly appropriate. XD

Next time, we'll be focusing on someone else. But, as much as I'm loathe to do this, next time will be Monday. There will be no page this Friday. I'd rather not get into specifics, but things have been rather hectic for me lately and I need to play a bit of catch up. So I am sorry to do this, but I hope you'll forgive me, and rejoin me for a new page on Monday.

@everyone

<shamelessplug>
As I said in the page blurb above, there is no new update going up tomorrow (back on Monday, I promise). That said, new images highlighting and discussing my upcoming second comic tend to go up on my Patreon every Thursday. Since today's image had already been prepared, I could still post today without bogging myself down. For just $3, this is the only way to see many of these drawings for the time being. So if the one day hiatus is getting you down, and you just need some new art or ramblings from me, you can always check it out here: https://www.patreon.com/RainComic

AWWWW As I was going to say on the last page - As an asexual I would be so tempted to hug Maria out of sheer joy if I was Nelly. Finding someone who respects you that much and takes action to show it with both words and things they do? That' just the best thing ever and they are the best person PERIOD.

I completely disagree that these pages don't add to the story, they are EXTREMELY important for pacing! i've all too often got burned out on webcomics where it's all "adding to the story" and it just feels like there's no moments to breath, wich very rapidly leads to a loss of interest in a story (for me at least) so these pages are great! as they just let the reader slow down and take stock of the characters without something new happening to them every page.

Of course this adds to the story!

With the number of couples who've been shown on rocky ground or worse, showing a pairing that are just plain happy and working out alright definitely adds to the story! They're the control group in the crazy experiment we call love!

Also, hope everything improves on your end! Do whatcha gotta do, boss!

plot, no, but story, yes

reply

@LittleLynn84: This page offers so much to, and is so needed by, the story seemingly because it contains so little plot. You've created a rich and vibrant ensemble and have found a way to focus the story on the relationships between them (and also with themselves). This makes the plot just a vehicle to get us form development to develpment, and pages like this become the landmarks in the story.

A story is more than just plot. This kind of moment is important for character development. It's especially important because the representations of lgbt... characters are usually tied to problems, and not solutions.

So this kind of page is what give us hope. And hope is a great motivator for reading a story. So don't bother, because catarsis is really important, and can't be achieved by tension built up on tension.

You're doing an amazing job!
