This one's a bit minimalist, moreso than I wanted because it's the last page I did on my old computer on one of it's sloggiest days. But despite it's simplicity, I really like this one. I just think Blair Carver is a lot of fun to work with. But what do you think of him? This is the first dialogue we're really hearing from the man himself outside of a book exclusive bonus chapter, so what kind of person are we taking him to be?

As for the "long, crazy story"... I'm sorry to say we won't be hearing it immediately. But I'd be interested to hear what people suspect.

@LittleLynn84:

As for the "long, crazy story"...

Umm ... he was told by a carnival fortune teller? ... no.

It was on the 11 o'clock news? ... naw, "Girl in Catholic School is Pregnant" isn't news.

I know ... when he was out on a hot date with Chase!

That was- different.

reply

Silly Blair! You have to have sex for the chance for a pregnancy to occur! Well, at least he's honest about his concerns.

@AnOldWolfNamedSteve:

Blair's remark about "is it mine" isn't actually serious. He's just a pretty quirky fella trying to keep the mood light (plus that little exchange also allows me to lowkey confirm Emily's not been sexually active with him).

Hashtag-sarcasm?

reply

@LittleLynn84: Oh, right, text has no tone to infer context. Solid copy. The least he could have done there is put in some emojis or J/k somewhere in the message.
(Reminds me of my early BBS days. The [/sarcasm] tag was only way you could tell somebody was pulling your leg.)

I always got the feeling that Blair wasn't a bad guy. He and Emily just wanted different things. He actually sounds like a real sweetheart. Glad to see he's in Emily's corner. :D

Blair seems like a doofus, but I like that he is a supportive person. However, I am really interested in how he knew about Emily's pregnancy. Chase? Probably. Emily's mom? I doubt it. Some unexpected character? I bet 5 dollars on that.

"A long, crazy story".
One day he ran into somebody who looked like Gandalf. He said his name was Drigzit and that Blair was "needed". Next thing he knows, he's in an alternate world where elves and dwarves are real and humans have blue skin.
He was immediately captured by barbarians but a group of adventures saved him and he joined them on their quest to find the Orb of Foretelling before the villainous Cromsdrog, who wanted to use it to take over the world.
On their way they came across Drigzit again, who warned them that a mortal using the Orb is only inviting disaster.
They got to where the Orb was hidden at the same as Cromsdrog and his goblins. To save the Orb, Blair had to touch it for a moment, before someone took it safely away and wrapped it in cloth. But Blair had a short series of fleeting visions. He didn't understand any of them, but he distinctly saw Emily with a baby.
Afterwards, Drigzit thanked him for his contribution and sent him back to Earth, where only a few moments have passed instead of weeks.

Long crazy stories:

-Blair went to the video game store and Randy was at work, and they somehow mind-melded to the point Blair could access Randy's recent memories.

-Out of spite Debbie contacted Blair and tried to get him to pursue Emily again and settle their disagreement (to try and split up Emirain) and he wasn't having any of it until Debbie told him Emily was pregnant.

-Blair once bugged the staff room as a joke, and he overheard Miss Parker and Mr Broom discussing it after randomly getting the feed back.

-Chase was ambling around drunk and started talking about Emily. Blair made the mistake of asking him about it.

-Blair was waling to a friend's house when he had the urge to climb a banana tree that wasn't there before. From the top of the tree he could just about reach a rainbow. It somehow tasted of both candy floss and nail varnish simultaneously. He started to feel a bit odd, before turning into a giant skittle. (A yellow one to be precise). As a skittle he could easily follow the rainbow, which turned into a moonbow as time went on. At the end of the now-moonbow were a bunch of wizards eating red rocks. They granted him all knowledge of the current universe, and turned Blair back into a human (although he now had jaundice). And this was the way he learned of Emily's pregnancy.

School Friend?

reply

Well as someone who has the first 4 books I can say Blair isn't a bad guy, but as for how he found out there's a high chance he still has friends in the school and they just told him and he's calling it long and crazy just to get Em's full attention.
I'm not saying it's impossible that Chase didn't have something to do with Blair finding out about the pregnancy but I'm leaning more towards the fact that he probably still has several friends who still attend Hallvard who aren't afraid to blab about things that are none of their beezwax.
