A bunch of stuff said, some more cute MarNel stuff, and the two girls are about to go different directions temporarily. Now what?

@NikuComics:

Hard as it may to believe, some people think all lesbians wear short hair and leather jackets, spit a lot, ride motorcycles and call each other dykes. Most of those people are fundagelical Christians who never had a life. Wearing dresses and makeup, cooking, shopping, taking care of your hair and the like makes them think you're a straight girl.

They're really dumb.

@NikuComics:

I believe this stereotype also led to the belief that any woman who does enjoy motorcycles, leather jackets, and short therefore *must* be a lesbian. My own family once fell subject to this when I mom once asked if I liked girls just because I was a super tomboy who hated dresses and wearing makeup.

I still do hate makeup and dresses, but it turns out I'm just boyish and asexual.

Quite true and something I should have mentioned. It's the refusal of anyone, gay or straight, cis or trans, or anyone in between, to fit into their neatly labeled boxes that confuses and, ultimately, angers them.

Oh my stars, this is going to be a Greek tragedy isn't it?! Every time a couple is being happy something bad happens that forces the characters to go to Heracles kind of trials to get what they want. Also, the irony is precious here. Maria's parents are really dumb.

I mean, yeah. Honestly, if the fact that something bad is gonna happen soon is supposed to be a secret, it's not a well kept one! XD It's quite obvious

A lot of bad things have happened in this comic so far and as horrible as it has gotten at least it hasnt been as bad as what happens in the real world.

@Nesagsar: Well, if Rain gets outed and Maria and Rudy get sent to gay camps like the comic has been heavily hinting at... Well, I don't want to think about it...

@TallMist:

I'm not sure things are going to go *that* far. The threat is there, yes, but I don't think there's heavy hints that's where all this is going. While it deals with heavy subject matter at times (i.e. parental neglect, bullying, homo/transphobia), the comic has been more positive in the long run.

Rain lives with a guardian who loves and supports her, has several friends who understand her situation, and even rekindled fractured relationships with friends and family (Gavin and her brother most notably). And so far, we haven't seen a character in a difficult situation without someone in their corner to fight for them.

Are bleak things ahead? Indefinitely. That's the nature of a comic like this. But will it all end in absolute sadness? That I doubt.

@Unknown: I don't believe it will end in absolute sadness. If it DOES go that far, the comic will undoubtedly continue until things are better again. But it's not going to end on the happiest note possible, either.

@TallMist:

Nah, likely not the happiest ending possible. But I honestly find those kinds of endings hallow anyway in most circumstances. It's hard to do a "perfect" ending without it feeling cheap.

A person's story only ends when they die - there will always be another challenge, another trial, and more to overcome. For me, the best kinds of endings acknowledge this and just pick a spot in the person's life to form a sense of closure. :)
