Our principal, Father Quenton makes a rare appearance, walking through the halls with Brother Arthur, and talking about something relatively inconsequential to the story overall. But this scene isn't without purpose. It basically leads into the rest of the chapter (two more weeks). Do expect a bit of a tonal shift for what comes next.

As for what comes next, please feel free to offer your thoughts and expectations.

@The Aussie Bloke:

That's the obvious possibility (they were warned by Brother Arthur to cool it in the hallways) and that could trigger more drama between Maria and her parents if Father Quenton rats her out. But maybe our esteemed host has a more convoluted future in store.

@MrCold I'd prefer a series of coincidences that somehow lead back to Todd... and also light him on fire.

On a completely unrelated note, is anyone else as overly curious about about Father Arthur's scar as I am? It's one of the first things that pop into my mind whenever he makes an appearance.

@Unknown:

It's actually a remnant from a long time ago. When I first came up with the story and characters for Rain, it was going to be a fantasy story. Brother Arthur - in that version - had a scar from a battle with a demon. Though I decided to take everything in a more slice-of-life direction (believe me; it's better this way), I decided to have him keep that scar. It gives him character, I think.

As for what caused it in this version, I don't necessarily have any current plans to answer that in the story. I often think maybe he used to serve in the military and received it in some combat situation (keeps it a little true to the original), but it could just as easily be an accident that happened when he was young. It's not super important, so your headcanon regarding it is fine in this case. ^_^

@LittleLynn84:

Thanks for the insider info! I find scars fascinating and I love learning the stories behind them. I admit part of that is personal bias since I've got a few of my own, including one on my face from a childhood accident. My parents were astounded that I was never ashamed of it growing up and never had a desire to hide or conceal it.

Scar?

Wait... FQ has a scar? I always just thought he had incredibly rough and wrinkly skin. I sort of imagined him being played by a 100 year old Alan Rickman

I am surprised that this was supposed to be a fantasy story, but I like the slice of life approach. Also, I know Father Quenton will do something evil soon if he is presented in this part of the story.

Nah, Brother Arthur has the scar. They said Father Arthur. I got confused too, had to go back and look.

It's like a video game cutscene where they show the villains in a dark room doing some ominous scheming and the next scene is the protagonists having oblivious fun. I know Arthur is A Good but I can't say the same about The Holy Raisin
