Some readers may have qualms with this being a rather "quiet" page. Thing is, I had considered long-winded farewells, but I felt like it kinda added a certain finality to the page. Like, it made it sound like we were never see Maria again from this point forward. And that's not the message I want to convey; even as a mislead. So I kept the hugs of the first page in silence. I decided the "it's not forever if you don't say goodbye" philosophy for this one. I'm sure some will still disagree, and that's fine. I'm just sharing my thought process here.

But while this isn't the last time we'll ever see Maria, it is still pretty sad to see this; to know that it's had to come to this (sadder when you remember her girlfriend and her brother couldn't make it in time). With that in mind, I liked the idea of closing the page with something humorous, because Blair did indeed make such an implication in front of Gavin who did not know about Rain and Emily's relationship. Maybe it's a little bit of emotional whiplash, but I think it fits.

Also, no. This isn't the end of the chapter either. There's a few weeks left, still. ;)

That moment when you remember you were supposed to keep your relationship a secret. Also, happy Pride Month to the LGBT people that celebrate it.

@12AbbyRainbow: Nope, Emily and Rain were trying to keep it secret because of Emily's old friends and Rudy: http://rainlgbt.smackjeeves.com/comics/2285893/flop/

Very observant Gavin. Wonder if Maria caught that.

Yep.

reply

@Bandana_girl: Maria's known for as long as Rain and Emily have been dating; she knew Emily well enough to tell, asked, and she confirmed.

It was in fact fairly observant of Gavin to pick up on this, which is quite impressive.

I would understand if you wouldn’t like speaking about this, but do you happen to know what happens to, well, the body parts when using the prescription for transition?

I was just wondering because I wanted to start my transition because you and Rain have inspired me to try something new!

@Sparkly_Glitter_GBB: I started transition about two months ago, so I don't know how much I can help, but I can tell you what I know. At this stage, my libido is pretty much dead and I don't really get erections anymore, and also I can clearly feel breast buds in my chest. They're not really visible yet, but they've been growing since about a month in, and the whole area is a lot more sensitive than before.

That's pretty much it for the changes at this point. Nothing visible yet, but there's definitely something happening. I do feel somewhat better than before, emotionally speaking, but I don't know if it's the hormones or just the giant weight off my shoulders from having finally started transition.

If you want more info on what happens later on, well that's the limit of my first-hand experience, so you might want to do some research on your own or ask someone who's been at this longer than I have.

By the way, Jocelyn, if you're reading this, I want you to know that I really appreciate what you're doing here. I've been reading your comic for a couple years now, and it helped me through some tough times. I think on some level, Rain helped get me to a point where I was ready to transition, and I'm infinitely thankful for that.

@Sparkly_Glitter_GBB I would tell you if I knew, but unfortunately I am not sure. I would say Google is your best friend in this situation, but take information only from credible sources(like maybe a medical site, or the story of somebody's experience of transition, etc.). I know that Jocelyn has her transition story in one of the books available on the store online(redbubble? I don't know, but you can click on the link in her comment), but I don't know if her story includes the medication stuff. It has been a long time since I read it and I've loaned my books to a friend. Good luck in your searches, and remember, the information is out there somewhere. Alternatively, you can ask your doctor or prescribing physician (doctor who prescribed it). Lastly, though I don't know if this is an option for you at this time, you could always ask your parents. Hope it helps, and have a wonderful day!
