I honestly wanted to call this page "Delay". In my head, it was funny because it's not a Rain Delay page, just a Rain page called "Delay". But on further thought, I was worried that'd 'cause some confusion. So let's not do that. This page is very much real and canon. XD

Anyway, we check back in with Maria, where the show she was dragged out to see still hasn't started. As Blair goes to figure out what's taking so long, Ky reminds us that she came with Heather today (whom we still haven't even seen in this chapter yet). And Maria and Ky decide to step out themselves to find where she's at. Along the way, Maria fills us in a bit with what she's been doing over the last month and a half or so. Girl's been busy!

Kind of a busy page, with lots of points being brought up and all. But what are you taking from this?

Okay I love this webcomic and Lynn but I have something thats been kinda bugging me. Lynn, what does this comic do for you? Correct me if I am wrong, but in some ways it seems like a form of self care, on a reasonably deep level. From what you have said about yourself, would it be fair for me to say that this is an almost idealized version of your life? Or at least a highly dramatized parody? sorry for the ramble, have a great night my fellow transbean.

@Ya_Yikes_Ya:

What does this comic do for me? Well, this is my job. It's literally what I do for a living. It doesn't make a lot of money, but you don't get into doing art for a living for the money. You do it because you love it. In my case, I'm not good at many things, and I'm passionate about even fewer. But I enjoy telling stories and it's one of the few things I have any sort of confidence in my ability to do. So I write and I draw. Rain is hopefully just the first of many.

As for why I write Rain specifically, it's because growing up, I never had stories where a trans character was portrayed in a positive light. They were - at best - villains and/or comic relief and/or murder victims, and that was very discouraging to me as a child, and probably directly contributed to me staying in the closet for a very long time (because I didn't want to be seen as evil, or a joke, or be murdered, needless to say).

So I wanted to tell the story I needed when I was growing up, in the hopes that some other kid out there doesn't torture themselves as much as I did. I don't think Rain's life is ideal, per se (the kid has suffered a lot), but I do want her story to be inspiring. And I'm proud to say I know quite a few people who've come out and/or transitioned and/or are still with us today because of Rain. I honestly never expected anything as much as that, but it means the world to me. More than I have words for.

Anyway, I feel like I got a little off track there, but I hope that answers your question. :)

@LittleLynn84: I'd say your reply was itself inspiring. I'm not trans myself, but I know what you mean about trans people being portrayed negatively by the media if at all, and I see how that's hurting a lot of people, especially since there are many cis people who have never talked to a trans person and those negative portrayals give them a completely wrong idea of what being trans means. I think your comic can not only inspire trans people, but also help cis people understand your situation, and I thank you for that.

What I take from it is that I probably need to go back and re-read some of these past couple of chapters ... I'd forgotten that Ky was with Maria & co.

But, yeah, my wife used to do quite a bit of sewing (before fibromyalgia stole all her energy) ... and what Maria is saying about a complex dress taking that long is probably spot on. And, if I remember correctly, Maria was designing the dress, and that part takes time too. Then there's seeing what doesn't work in your design and having to redo parts of it here & there. I hope she can get it done.

And, I wonder what Maria's going to do then for a dress?
