Aidyn returns from the soda bar, at last, while Rudy and Colette continue their conversation about trading outfits right in front of him! Of course, they say it all without specifying anything, so Aidyn is still amusingly in the dark. XD

In case you've forgotten about the entirety of Chapter 6, yes, Rudy's classmates have seen him crossdress before. Even ones not normally attached to his usual circle of friends. He didn't really see too much adversity then either. But in this case, it's the setting that might complicate things. That was Halloween. That was a house party. There were no teachers or even adults (there was Chase, but he's obviously not the responsible type).

This is prom, though. This is an event hosted by the school. There are many teachers and adults. So how can or will this go, I wonder?

Unlike Rock and Riot, I think this is going to be more of a drama than a comedy.

My first thought was 'Todd'.
Then 'It is likely he did not even come.'
Then I read 'This is an event hosted by the school. There are many teachers and adults.'
And ow. Oooow.
Sounds almost as ominous as the phrase 'Be careful.'

I only know two phrases in the English language...

reply

@Belgarel: ... that are even more bodeful than that:

"Some assembly required"

and

"I just saw it the other day."

{That one led to me paying $35 for a new stapler last week...}

I can only hope that Rudy and Ky will be treated kindly like at the party. But this is prom... And the last couple of pages have given me a sense of foreboding.

It's also been a few since we've seen Emily, I hope the phone call wasn't Chase...

@LittleLynn84:

What would be really cool is if a bunch of couples switch outfits as a way of making it no big deal, just some hi jinx at the prom. What are the chaperones going to do? Throw a third to a half (wishful thinking) of the couples out? If they call Brother Arthur (still the new principal) up, what's he going to decide?

can i just say how far Rudy has come?? like at the very beginning of the comic he was so eager to spread people's business around, and now his response even to a genuine question is to respect people's privacy. character development yall. i love this comic

(also aidyn omg.... hes just "??? owo ????")

I doubt much, if anything, will happen to Rudy, at least from the teachers/chaperones. Recall that not only is Brother Arthur most likely to tell whoever complains to bug off, but I doubt the teachers will risk costing everyone their jobs harassing the kid whose family has the diocese by their tender bits. And that's the leverage the Strongwells have right now. Their daughter was expelled under . . . let's say dubious circumstances, and their son brought accusations, backed up by medical records, that he was being hospitalized by a kid the headmaster was covering for. At this point, I doubt Rudy could get in trouble for anything short of stabbing a kid in the hallway, so everyone might just let it slide. Besides, they won't have to deal with him much longer anyway.

I have an uneasy sense here. This will end in tears. Not sure who yet. But somebody’s gonna have a bad time. (And with her luck, it might be Rain somehow, poor gal)

@Rezb: I am pretty sure you are exactly right. I think I know what is going to happen. There's still a chance it won't end badly for Rain though, but I suspect that may all depend on Holly.

Aidyn's Tie

reply

@Nesagsar: His tie was hanging loose like that even when they checked in. My guess, he had it tied for pictures at the house when he and Collette met for the evening, and promptly untied it in the car.
