Of course, someone was bound to overhear and talk to Emily, but...

Well... thoughts?

I forget, who does Emily stay with since her mother’s been gone? Or does she live alone?

This is your moment Debbie. Here is your chance to be a good person and stop with the low-ley bullying of your friend and her lover.

This is Debbie's chance to prove that he still wants to be Emily's friend.

Also, if Emily doesnt go to her mom's house, I bet her mom is still going to seek her like a mad cartoon villainess from the 90s-2000s.

agreed. Debbie has the chance to cause major drama but also to decide she cares more about fixing her friendship with Emily instead of avenging it

Good for Debbie. Hopefully she's going to talk Emily out of it and get her back to Rain.

Debbie's chance

reply

I see some comments saying 'It's your chance to prove that you're a good friend, Debbie.'
She... just did that. In this panel, she proved she was sensitive, perceptive, and genuinely cared about Emily more than about herself (and her own loneliness). That she was a better friend that Emily thought.

You've done a very good job at showing she was tempted to go confrontational. This page is a huge relief.
I just hope that whatever terrible news you have for us for this prom night is not going to ruin this beautiful resolution. I'd rather have Chase or Maria's father or even Todd ruin the fun with some ominous turn of event than Debbie turning her back on Emily and Rain after this.

I finally finished reading through the archive and wanted to tell how amazing your webcomic is.

I'm curious how this discussion between Debbie and Emily will go. She definitely still cares about Emily so I hope she will stay nice and try to help her former friend.

THANK YOU DEBBIE FOR BEING A VOICE OF REASON! I personally never disliked Debbie just thought she saw things in the wrong light I'm real glad she's...how do I say this, she's being Emily's friend again. As bad as that sounds it's really the only way I can describe how I see this.

OK, Debbie's not too bad, just a bit too cautious/resistant to change

she's a pretty good friend (once she starts to accept the whole LGBTQ+ part)

I LOVE this last panel. I think it embodies a lot of my favorite things about your writing. I can almost here the emotions behind that line from Debbie. It’s like she expects Emily to be so much more than that, Emily has had this character arc, she went from trying to have a perfect year to please her mother to saying fuck that and making her life her own. Debbie recognizes that Emily is different and is almost mad at her for sliding back. It’s like she is saying (without actually spelling it out) ‘wow so you are supposed to have changed and become so much more but you’re still that shallow girl who really just wants mommy to love her.’ It’s a really well done line. And I love it so much.

I think Debbie is going to push Emily to the right direction. Away from her mom. Since she still cares for her friend and doesn't want to see her upset. I hope Emily listens or at least brings Fara and Rain with her when she does go to see her mom.

As much as it's nice seeing Debbie doing the right thing I can't say she's earned an iota of trust that she's actually turning a new leaf.
